Vallaki Sewers - The Drain

A figure wearing a mask with violet colors and a cloak depicting a skull with a purple sunburst entered the Drain this evening. He wore a clerical skirt not uncommon amongst the clergy of some faiths. He referred to himself as  'The Deceiver'. This man was seen carrying around a dead Morninglordian and claimed retribution against the 'Enemies' of Cyric. He called upon the denizens to welcome the Church of Cyric led by the Harbinger and support its endeavors against the Drain's numerous foes. He was seen offering a gift to one of the caliban in the depths and leaving with his prize in tow.

He gave a brief rant about his god and defeating the enemies of the Dark Sun. He claimed that brothers would turn against brothers, sisters against sisters. For anywhere could be the presence of yet another servant of Cyric. He lambasted the Morninglord Heresy of Barovia and that its divisions would never heal and that Lathander has forsaken the rest in a cruel twist of fate. Lastly, he called upon others to give into despair and rid themselves of false hope and twisted a favored Lathanderite saying.

"There is always another dawn, for it heralds the Dark Sun rising."

Tensions rose in the drain involving the Cyricist known as 'The Deceiver' and the group known as the Black Hand. A man known as the Bloodletter and proclaimed High Priest of Nerrull ordered The Cyricist priest be slain. Soon after, a fight broke out between 'the Deceiver' and Leon the swordsman following the refusal of the former in leaving in order to be slain by a trio. The incident was put to end by a drain dweller as the neutrality of the place was infringed upon. Soon after, the Cyricist was menaced and surrounded by the now silent group of Black Hand who waited in vain for the man to depart and fall upon their blades. The masked priest declared that the Church of Cyric would remember those transgressions...

A pale Gundarakite man occupies a table behind Hoth's bar with an array of drinks set out, about a half hour before the sign's mention.

A letter has been left publicly for all to see for one Neesy. It is from a woman named Monique Gallant claiming the RVT want a meeting at whatever time and place she leaves word for.

A slender figure with wearing clothes befit to a desert dweller has been down to the Drain, seeking contacts and employment. They have been dealing with "Reds" and are absent occasionally - presumably on a delivery job in lack of better.

Rumor is that there is a new sewer gang on the rise. Whatever is to be the fate of that band is yet to be known.

Denizen of the Drain are also warned via posters about a Tax Collector Wererat, and people are encouraged to carry either gold or trinkets (junk) with them in order to be able to pay the tax.

A hooded woman in dark clothing often frequents the drain and takes her place among the shadows, occasionally illuminated each time a sharpening stone pulled roughly against a silvery blade.

Sometimes another would approach, voice low, in a whispered request for 'assistance.'

Other times she spoke her mind and eased forward in place with an interested lean, atmosphere of close proximity tainted with the scent of blood. Her voice molten and poisoned with contempt,  "You are either one of us, or you are one of them."

Over the past few days, a newcomer has been spending his time in the Drain.  A man garbed in a mix of black and brown clothing, his face mostly concealed by a cloth wrapped around his head.  He carries no visible weapons and seems to politely give most others their space.  The man's purpose is clear to those he speaks with - He has come seeking like-minded individuals who wish to enlighten themselves spiritually and physically.  He seeks to meet with those who wish to trade knowledge, share skills, offer work, or face each other in combat for training.  He desires to meet with those of many faiths, creeds, and brotherhoods, and discuss the paths they walk.

On the brooch of his cloak is a skull, bearing a simple black diamond on the forehead.  The unmistakable symbol of the Order of the Long Death.

[three strangers are seen negotiating in the drain, with Knives, the resident Caliban seem to be wary of the visitors, one in shining golden armour, the woman the obvious leader and one that keeps to the shadows watching both the others, the talk around the drain is why are they there and who are they? The only fact that comes out is that they are related as she was heard to call to her 'cousins' when call them to a meeting after a short discussion with one of the drain residents]

An Elven woman in an unfortunate - and dirty - compromise of a black gi and layered-on travelers clothing to endure the harsh Barovian winters was seen taking up temporary residence in the Drain. She causes little-to-no fuss, simply opting to sit in her self-designated spot and moving only to spend money on the questionable food provided. The Elf has yet to state her intentions for occupying such a miserable place.

A women in a brown gown and Porcelain mask that covers her face has taken up a spot near the bar advertising to any she sees the pleasures she can offer. A quick flash of the box in her lap shows a number of vials and pouches neatly ordered. Looks as if a new dealer is pushing to the underground.

Hoth's bar seems to be bustling with commotion lately, namely with the presence of a man named Boris and a crew that present themselves as the "Ratters of Vallaki".

Rumor has it they now occupy the east meeting room and are currently seeking out new muscle both for employ as bodyguards and for a future fight ring with Knive's approval.

Several shady Borcan men were seen rummaging through the Drain discussing business. Notably, their apparent leader 'Lars' has taken to speaking to others in the Drain to take on work and has on occasion peddled wares when he is not speaking to Reds by Hoth's Bar.

In the Ratters' meeting room numerous gunshots are heard before a bloodied woman stumbles out toward the pier. Rumor among the sewer dwellers is that Knives is pissed off.

In recent days a tattooed gnome has been seen coming in and out of the Ratter's room. She arrives with packed bags of waxed leather and departs empty handed. A note is left affixed to the door of the room and in the Drain.

The Ratters are Hiring:

A number of people are seen entering the Eastern room, rented by the Ratters. Among them: a man in dark colours, a man in white and black, two women in dark colours, a woman in brown furs carrying a stick and a female gnome. Over the course of the day a commotion can be heard frequently from within with raised voices, breaking furniture, chanting in a strange tongues and hisses and shrieks.

Gradually the occupants trickle out, save one of the women in black and the woman in furs, who do not reemerge.
