Vallaki Sewers - The Drain
« on: October 13, 2007, 09:04:40 AM »
Caliban lurkers speak of odd things occuring in the Tunnels recently; some mention moving shadows, others speak of a walking shadow that "dropped much fang"; vanishing, few seem to wonder what is the source of this most unusual omen...

Life seems to go on as usual for the inhabitants of the Drain, little they know what lurks whithin...

A bag of fang and a note sticked to the door...

Those with the ability to comprehend the written speech, would be in the know of what are the consequences of being careless...

With the opening of the Drain to strangers, many calibans and freaks warily watch the newcomers walk in, wondering what will happen with all these strangers. As they watch, a particularly noisy and disturbing human tries to pick a fight with one of the calibans. Quickly, three other calibans surround the man and drag him outside nodding to Gol who slams the door shut behind them. The rest of the Drain inhabitants shrug as they hear the screams of the man outside their 'home'. This is one surfacer that won't be seen in the Drain for a long while...

Music echoes within the stony walls of the Drain, violin and harp together in an eerie duo, between two petite women. Slender in shape, covered from head to toe in dark fabric. Both played for a moment, as if time itself had stopped within the filthy home, no words were spoken, not a breath. When the music ended, the spell was broken and all returned to their business.

Looking at a corpse lying in a corner, Hoth is seen asking one of the brutes hanging around by the bar to dispose of it. The corpse is quickly thrown into the sewage waters, left to drift to its ultimate destination. This seems to be a common sight in the Drain as no one wants to share their living quarters or their bar with rotting corpses.

*pinned to the wall by a woman in rugged cloths and a mountaineers mask and hood, crackling with enough arcane magic to dissuade the curious, written on plain yellowing parchmant*

The killings, they are bad for business. Everyone and their mother is sniffing around. The killings are a risk to the sewers themselves. Those who bring attention to the Drain should be dealt with, told to stop or made to stop, before they come- not pissant farmer guards. but priests and inquisitors with steel and fire and magic to match magic.

Are there Drain Dweller's left with the sense to operate with some cunning? I will be waiting and watching to see. Respond.

A large figure wearing the torn, bloodied remains of an expensive, well-made coat passes by the location.

A small note has been added to the bottom of this note, in very clear, well-written chalk markings on the wall below. It is, however, small, as if the writer is using as little chalk as possible.

'Some semblence of civility remains down here. Seek out the Librarian.'

A small, crude drawing is tacked up on the notice, of a red wagon with a stick figure man standing infront of it, his arms and hands spread open to signify peace.

Several days later, the same figure approaches the marks on the wall, looking somewhat irritable.

In the hands of the figure in front of the red cart, he draws a rough representation of a large spiked chain. Two diagonal lines are drawn above the eyes of the figure, pointing downwards towards the center of the head in aggression.

*the orginal writing has been over-smeared slightly, which seems to be some red substance, on someones thumb, and with the same color, the red writing folows underneath the paper*

'They ask do we have sense, cunning'nes.. Them' asking to do as leached on the pole, under the...stink.. under the sewer and filth, whom' humans and their precious comrades has dropped here, them forgotten, pushing you and he' from their eyes, so them'in lightly' and grass-filled lands, would rest at ease in theys' night..

us think, and us and they' are saying.. Humans' and their ilk' keep their own stink, the same which looms' in everys' corners when those fear-filled hearts enter OUR! drain.
Humans and their ilk' living the' lighted lands in grass, telling them in our dark'nes, how to make things happen..

*the next line is written with several draws*

HUMAN STINK, YOUR WORLDS DISGUST AND TURNS HIS INSIDES OUT!

*the writing continues on the more clear manner*

He says, it will be done so to those stinks, as has been reapd' from them..

*there's a maliciously drawn smiley, a wide grin with angry set of eyes, making it more heartakingly look, as the substance made to draw is falling down the wall-side...like blood*

A piece of dingy cloth is pinned up alongside some of the markings on the drain walls, it seems the poster lacked any more durable medium for the short missive.

A woman sits in the corner of the Drains bar. She gets up and walks over to Hoth and puts her cracked cup on the bar.

"Has Kyorli been in here lately?"

Hoth shrugs and passes her another drink. She tosses some coins and walks back to her seat. She stop and looks again at Hoth. "If you do see him tell him I wish to talk with him."

A figure in a black hood and robes walks up to Hoth, passes him a small sack of coins and leans close to the massive bar tender*

"Any messeages for Kyorli?"

"Yeah!" he says as he nods his head over toward the woman.

Word in the seediest corners of the Drain Speak the Name of Alexander Silvanus; denizens of the Drain know that when a name floats, it is because the name has drawn the attention of the Old Boss himself.

Word has it that the Shepherd has once again been seen visiting the Drain, scowling fiercely at any "normal" persons that he comes across. The big man only seems to stay long enough to use the cauldron or to visit with the runts.

The Shepherd drops a bag off at the Boss' door. He tells Bronkus that the bag contains the head of a caliban unknown to him, and found at the bottom of the well by the outskifts. It's obvious that the Shepherd is enraged by the find, and nothing good will come from his anger.

Rumours spread around the Drain of Calibans being murdered in thier own homes by topsiders.  Some, being fed up with the bosses need of the topsiders gold, are seen leaving in discust.

Mentioned on occasion amongst the shady and the wretched, is the horned merchant Kolgrímur who comes and goes down in this hole, accompanied by his dark elf assistant, bearing seldom seen goods. They say he not only sells, but may also buy, leaving the greedy wondering what riches that may offer.

A lengthy time since the skulking hins were seen, lurking about the Drain and its surrounding tunnels the Brumbats seem to have returned to the sanctuary of outcasts and criminals, it does not take long for them to start they're shady dealings once more.

A new face was seen today in the Drain, it's a gnome in Yellow-black robe. Rumors saying he escaped the citadel.
