Huge Increase in NPC Perception Radius

Name: Ishtar Al-Uruk

Where: Everywhere

When: Last two IRL days

What: Creature perception/agro radius has dramatically increased.

Recreate:
Try any of the following scenarios:
1) Walk anywhere on screen where a mink exists and watch it turn its attention to you from a full screen away.  Granted it doesn't pose menacingly till you achieve the same distance but its clearly noticing your presence and turning its attention to look towards you from much futher away than it used to.
2) Create a new non-outcast character with less than 12 OCR with Barovia.  Rent a cow.  Make a Krofburg delivery.  Try to walk past the crag cats without getting agro and find that the second you crest the top step the Dire Crag cats come charging down off the mountain at you.

Ideas: Something is different where this is concerned and I don't think this was intentional as there are no notes in the change log to indicate creature perception was changed on purpose.

NPC perception distance has always been this weird balancing act.

Too short and NPCs are dumb and unreactive to threats.

Too long and you suddenly get this beeline of mobs running at your party out of nowhere. (Which, incidentally, can also lead to exploits.)

We haven't changed anything server-side, so it may be related to the recent patch.

Well, it would be nice to have this adjusted if poss. For Calum it's quite easy to battle and kill the the cats on the way to Krofburg, but my low-level warmage Mel cannot pass without drinking invis potions each time and also giving one to her bovine helper. I am sure this wasn't intended, but could these cats please be made a little short-sighted?

I can confirm that something is broken here, i was collecting rocks today in perfidus and the mobs aggroed on me right at the edges of the sight radius which they never have done before, also if i punched the rocks they ran at me out of the sight radius.

If i had to guess, this is probably NWNx probably not loading something it should properly, rather than a particular script change.

I noticed this a few weeks ago but couldn't figure out how to word my post. The last time I can confirm that this bug was not present was around the October 2024 NCE, and the earliest I noticed it was on 1-27-25. It's particularly noticeable with the wolves and worgs in Barovia - the packs will chase you down from beyond render-distance and I have even seen a worg pull a 180 to spot me from just within render distance. Looking through the changelog the only thing that stood out to me was this:

Changelog - October 15th, 2024 Version BETA 2.31a "Hak"

- Fixed an issue with stealth penalties not properly stacking.

I have noticed this most notably with wolves, worgs, werewolves, and any other wandering spawns that occur in outdoor areas. As soon as you are able to register them in view, they are on you.

Sorry for spamming this forum, but again I have noticed the crag cats on the way to Krofburg Tent City are not only apparently stronger than before. It is also impossible to avoid getting attacked by them. As soon as Calum have reached the top of the stair case they attacked him. Calum is lvl 14 and well protected, but they hit him extremely hard. Usually I assume that it's mainly lower level chars that wander the road to Krofburg and back.
TBH, I think there should be something done about the alertness of the beasts. While it is fine that they are stronger than before, I find it just a bit unfair to not being able to avoid getting attacked. Yes, an invis potion is helpful, but if you have an ox with you, that would be two potions in one direction. I find this a bit much. Would it be possible to have the cats' eyesight changed please?

Passive spawns go insane pretty much instantly, too. There's barely a blink of warning between the menacing pose and hostility.

Unfortunately, I can confirm that this issue is still present.
+1, unfortunately. It's lead to needing to be buffed at full capacity to walk along certain roads.

I hate to reopen the issue but the fix seems to have walloped possessed Familiar vision distance. I'm losing sight of PCs and NPCs on my familiar at a much lower distance than my actual character can see them.

Minor issue maybe, but if there's a way to exempt them that'd be great!
