I'm surprised I don't see more players utilizing the tools that can be found build into W10, and W11 so I thought I'd make a post to make everyone aware of them. If you are running either operating system then you have included the ability to record any type of gameplay using the 'XBOX Game bar' and to my surprise it can even record the last 30 seconds before you even hit record.
The key standard keybinds are:
Windows Key + Alt + G (Record last 30 seconds)
Windows Key + G (Open the gamebar, and then you can even set binds for start a longer recording.)
Windows Key + Alt + R (Start a recording, don't forget to turn off the recording when you are done recording.)
You can also just hit windows key + G and click the buttons, if you prefer. Though I'd memorise the keybinds.
"But it standardly records to my C:/ drive Chadyo, and it's already so full."
Yes that it does, but did you know you could just drag the folder to another disk and it'll automatically save to there instead? Do what I did! Buy the cheapest 4TB SSD you can find. ( About €150 where I live) and you will have oceans to record.
"Won't this impact my performance?"
Yes it will a little bit, but most of us can run NWN quite easily.
"But I'll need to activate streamer mode?"
I don't think it's required after all streaming mode is for streaming and not recording, you still still respect other players privacy and especially when it comes to DM plots, or PVP interactions I wouldn't upload them without asking first. And when you do wish to show a DM exactly what transpired. Upload it to your own youtube account, unlisted and only accessible by link.
"But the quality is kind of poo-poo, isn't it?"
Well actually it isn't that bad as far as I've seen. You can manually set the quality to 1k, and even to 2 or 4k. So far the only weird thing I've had is where audio gets corrupted and extremely horrible but in most cases you are just trying to record a funny clip, or an incident.
"What a shame that this only works in applications and games."
Except that it doesn't! You can configure it to record your desktop as well if you'd like to make a tutorial of any kind.
