Sanctuary bug?
« on: March 28, 2024, 12:42:36 PM »
Name:
Possible new/ongoing sanctuary bug?

Where:
Even if you make the save against sanctuary, the party using it still becomes unseen completely. In the case of npcs you can find them by getting close to them, but in the case of players they remain completely hidden. You can bump into player characters, but they remain unseen. I'm not sure if this is the intended or desired effect?

When:
I have witnessed this on two characters using it, on more than one occasion - once was hostiled, the others were not hostiled.

What:
When sanctuary is used the caster vanishes from sight completely - even if the will save is met or beaten. Giving the user of the spell the ability to sneak around completely undetected by others other than bumping into an unseen object and having to walk around it.

Recreate:
Have a divine caster use the spell when hostiled or unhostiled, compare will saves, and walk to where the user of the spell is.

Ideas:
The will save does not seem to be negating the effect as per spell description.

Current: Rabbit/ Kalis
Shelved mostly: Sudhri / Atlantia / Radriel/ Herophile Sybil/ Lliannia/ Belia
Closured (dead or other): Marius/ Calous/ Ellana/ Radu/ Ania/ Anica/ Olath

Old bug. Annoying against huecuvas. Either unfixable or decided to be kept like this for balance issues.
Noignar Huillen: Ilmater Cleric.
Hedien Gine: Arrow and Bow Artist.
Dolin Schneim: Dwarven Soldier

Been like this since the start of NWN:EE, on all servers.

Also, NPCs with blindsight / true seeing also can't target/perceive you unless you get too close. :3 Sanctuary is pretty OP.

Well, it's being abused and exploited. I have full faith that E.O. can fix or change the spell to prevent that.

Spot wouldn't work to see them. It's like invisibility but  it ignores effects that see through it. It doesn't last very long but passing the saving throw still means nothing.

As shadow says, NWN:EE introduced this bug.
It is possible to rework the spell to properly fix the logic, though there are likely concerns of how it will affect POTM's custom AI as well.
Currently:
Livu Olmstead - First Watcher of Helm
Emmanuelle Skyshard - Ezran escapee from Hazlan

Also:
Renee le Serrurier - scholar and adventurer

I actually think the bugs for Sanctuary predate EE.  This is a very old issue.

This is a longstanding hardcoded bug. Unfortunately we can't fix it.

You can change the effects applied in nw_s0_sanctuary to be whatever you want.  Making a homebrew sanctuary effect is how other PWs have done this.
