Yuki is Forever
« on: December 20, 2022, 03:37:59 PM »

Quote
A coward dies a thousand deaths
A liar lose a thousand breaths
We learn to breathe right until the last breath is left
So what's left besides for us to do what's right
- The RZA, from Fate of the World
There's only two types of people in the world
The ones that entertain, and the ones that observe
Well, baby, I'm a put-on-a-show kind of girl.

Today's Bonus Feature: A Special Disaster; The Rise of the Purple Phoenix

This is the tale of Yuki,
a rambunctiously, exuberant elf who, abandoned as a child,
grew up in the care of an eccentric monastery known as
the Order of the Avian Godking. After having been spirited away by
a mysterious entity swirling with mists,
she now finds herself in a magical and deadly world filled with nightmares.

Journey alongside Yuki, her friends, her acquaintances,
and even her rivals as they encounter
mysterious beings, blood-thirsty monsters,
mystical creatures, and discover hidden secrets.

Can Yuki tap into her training as a spiritual warrior to defend her values?
Can she uplift those around her as she uplifts herself?
Or will her kind heart become jaded, and cynical,
as she endures her toughest trials? Tune in next time...
There's only two types of people in the world
The ones that entertain, and the ones that observe
Well, baby, I'm a put-on-a-show kind of girl.

The only treasure I've ever valued,
Is the family I found here in the Mists.
As an Orphan seeking love,
They spoiled me with their warmth and kindess.

Although our bonds will never break,
Each day that passes by takes away
More and more of those whom matter to me.

This cannot continue, I cannot continue...
Not as I am, I must become more.
This is only way to make an impact in this world
That wants nothing to do with me.

My Godking, please guide me with your wisdom
As I step towards the unknown.
Grant me this miracle,
To make all the dreams of those I cared about...
A reality.

Many years have passed since the first day the mists claimed me.
The monastery I called home resided near the vast expanse of the Frozenfar.
A mostly peaceful place to live, even if it was very cold.
The temple was ran by good humans who took an orphaned Elf in.
Generations of them helped raise me to follow our codes and mantras,
as well as to harness chi and train my mind.

The first teacher who taught me how to focus my spiritual energy to fight...
he did so while whacking me with a staff and tossing me around everywhere.
He had an arm too, whipping rocks at me with such speed that
I could barely see them when thrown. He expected me to dodge them flawlessly.
Having my arse beaten badly by that old man with one foot in the grave,
it was a humbling and unique experience. Loved him. Hated his stick though.
Most importantly, my sisters and brothers showed me how to live.

After first arriving in Barovia, I was astonished and overwhelmed by this new way of life.
Elves were looked at with scorn and my kin out in Degannwy, well..
there wasn't much common ground between us. Never even learned to speak Elven.
That language barrier and not understanding my own culture, it caused a rift.
Didn't help that the woman I idolized was half drow.

I'm a boisterous Elf that lacks a filter and has purple hair.
An anomaly through and through. Some hated me, others folks didn't believe
that I'd live long enough to be worth getting to know.

Confidence, willpower and a chip on my shoulder were my greatest weapons.
Fighting though... I wasn't any good and it took years to click.
Was beaten badly in almost every battle that I took part in,
whether they were duels of skill or up against terrifying foes.
One time a Unholy Priest of Vecna slammed me so hard on my head that afterwards...
letters began twisting and floating in different directions whenever trying to read or write.
It caused such intense headaches too and so.. I had to stop.
Felt weak and feeble for a long time. Monsters even mocked my intelligence.

But giving up isn't in my nature, so with each defeat I'd pick myself up and lick my wounds.
Every new scar became a permanent reminder of a lesson learned.
I continued flinging myself at every danger that stood in front of me,
repeating this cycle until one day I could thrive.

There's only two types of people in the world
The ones that entertain, and the ones that observe
Well, baby, I'm a put-on-a-show kind of girl.

Gmno's feather before the coda:
Why announce the closure in a bio post as opposed to the actual closure thread? Because I'm not finished and still have one more post to write, but I'd like to share these thoughts while they are still fresh. Also, truthfully, this is a too emotional for me and even a nice smelling rose given might influence my writing. I need time to work it out, but will respond to anyone that reached out after I am done.

Akira Toriyama and Jackie Chan Adventures are the reason Yuki exists. My friend's brother would watch it and somehow, I got into it. There is no Yuki without Toriyama. An idiot whom is obsessed with fighting, is an other wordly acting martial artists and also gets stronger from losing (8 int is bad). I'm guilty here for my inspiration, but my unique spin was the through the lens of a holy fool/jester type. Thank you, Toriyama, being inspired by your work brought me some wonderful moments with this character and allowed me to meet many, many amazing people here. More importantly, the character offered me what I needed most during a difficult time and helped me heal.

Speaking of all the players... Holy shoots have I met so many characters through Yuki. Once tried to thank everyone that influenced me, back in an older appreciation thread, but it took two hours and I gave up because my one brain cell began hurting. I'll reach out to the players that I need to thank personally for showing me love and getting me hooked on the server. Over five years of playing an intrepid, nomadic wanderer who would talk anyone's ear off that would stop and listen... the list of characters that have had large and small impacts on my experience are too long to do justice. Want to give thanks and tell every player in the mist camp who played along with my improv comedy act that I appreciated them, it was a joy hanging around your characters and getting to know them. Thank you to all the lowbies that would let a nearly unkillable demigod do random, basic tasks to help out such as mining or escorting a wizard to the mage tower. Thank you to all the ampcs that interacted or fought with me. Thank you to everyone for RPing with me.

Why did I join the server and make the character that I did? Friends and DMs from my nwn2 server told me they bought the game on sale and were joining this server. They wanted me to play, because I was going through a hard time while being a care-giver for a loved one and I wanted something to do with spare time. I needed a laugh and needed other people to laugh with me, so I brought out the martial artist tea-house brawler clown from space station 13 to make my friends giggle. There is cheesy humor in many horror stories, intended or un-intended, and my favorite style of martial arts movies are humor. Felt like a good opportunity play her personality in a DnD setting and let the IC events determine where she ended up. I was always rooting for the evil clown to show up, but the people in her life prevented it.

The last ic blurb for Yuki's bio won't be soon, but it will be posted sometime within the next six months. Until next time <3.
