UI not being captured on recording software
« on: January 24, 2024, 04:47:23 PM »
So here's a quirky one. It's not necessarily all about NWN, but running on the development patch of 88.8193.36-8 has made my OBS program unable to capture the UI directly when using the Game Capture source. Window Capture works fine though.

I know this is something that can happen with any game. But reverting back to the last stable 87.8193.35-40 patch has it working again. I didn't mess around with my settings at all to experiment with it and such but I thought it was just something worth documenting. Not having your chatlog up and having videos look like you're playing without a hud definitely compromises any footage you might need to reference.

Conversely this also looks useful for people who want to switch their recordings between a cinematic one and one cluttered by UI.

Does OBS let you record game capture and window capture simultaneously? It'd be cool to be able to cut between the two freely.

It does, you can have as many captures as you want. Though what you render it as is your limitation. I've got it outputting to a 1080p file of 1920x1080. So unless you make it have both your screens on at once or, you're okay with swapping between one or the other than I don't know the possibility. Or I guess you could run two capture programs at the same time if you've got the hardware for it.
