You quoted my reply but completely ignored all the reasons I gave against it and just decided it is 'not a bad idea'. This discussion is getting a bit repetitive, but the reason I am replying again is just to point out that calling any playtime 'almost entirely dead' is not only inaccurate (We have 36 players online at the moment) but somewhat disrespectful to people who happen to live in and play in different time zones. They matter just as much as the peak hour players.

Signed: Someone who is mostly active around this time.

There are 36 players online at the moment, but they are not the core focus of the server, either in terms of DM attention or player event attention. While I won't say I've never seen it, I certainly can't recall any events where I felt I had to get up at three in the morning to attend them, nor can I recall any DMs which have gone out of their way to hold events in the US Eastern hours between 1 AM and 7 AM. So clearly they aren't just as important as the 100+ that are catered to during events at peak hours, or at least, aren't going to be as inconvenienced as those people, when the server resets.

So I don't consider that disrespectful to them, so much as an honest accounting of server activity and who would suffer more in the event of such a regular reset schedule. As it stands, the server either crashes or is manually reset by a vote much more frequently than every 4-5 days, during peak hours and it is done on the whim of player command. If there is an exploit which is being exploited, the exploiter, through the cajoling and coercing of their fellow player to vote, can exploit at-whim.

On the other hand, having a predictable, regular server reset can allow people to adjust their expectations to it, rather than suddenly wrapping things up with little more than a 15 minute timer whenever EO wants to update the server, or a server reset vote has been cast. I would find it exceedingly pleasing compared to the current system.

BSR, you are being very disrespectful towards a large part of our community. Whether you consider it disrespectful or not. Everyone matters the same. Everyone is the core focus. Things do happen when you sleep. Great stories were told during the off-peak hours, DMs (Hello) are running events and plots during these hours. We all matter just the same.

Your comment regarding exploits is just wrong and the current system minimizes the risk it will be gamed, and that is all I am going to say on the matter.

In my general experience, this time zone applies to people early-morning in Europe, or even Australian time, and in many cases, the Australians that I have played with have had to invert their sleep schedule just to be involved in plot threads in Dementlieu over the years. No server-altering event chains centered around this timezone, neither the Gundarakite Black Army plotline, Strahd being tossed into a coffin while his relatives ruled in his place, Soth, the Dementlieuse Revolution, Civil War, or the Silent Fields campaign. Not the War of Copper Knives, nor the Invidian incursions. Pointing out that the server is primarily focused during peak hours isn't disrespect, it's a practical statement and an observation of a consistent server trend. If there are plots being run, they are far fewer, smaller, and less impactful on the overall playerbase from an objective meter. It might be personally important, but because it does not include dozens of players, maneuvering around a reset during this time is easier for everyone involved. If there is inconvenience, it inconveniences far fewer. This server runs 24/7, therefore there is no point in which the server reset would not affect some portion of the population.

However, far more happens during the prime time hours during the day, than it does during the current hours, no matter how you sugar coat it, and historically, has had little to no server attention during these hours. You could apply a mandatory reset during daytime hours, and so long as everyone knew when the reset would regularly occur, it would still be preferable to a random reset (especially during server updates) that would affect all involved players. When I played in Dementlieu, we would have to have DMs forcibly stall or cancel server resets because our events during peak hours would incite the playerbase to want to manually trigger the server reset. This isn't, in my experience of playing the late, nocturnal hours, an issue during the night swing.

Take that however you will, if it offends you, so be it; If you want to project disrespect onto people to whom there isn't disrespect given, so be it. If you think I'm wrong, supply me with a counter-argument and data that proves a better time for it. I never stated that someone's roleplay was less important, I stated that these are the least populated hours, with the fewest events, and the least DM attention, and therefore would be the least disturbing. If you interpret that as being unimportant, that's projection on your behalf, not mine. This thread is about discussing implementing a mandated reset, if there isn't the intent to have it done, or if it's a conversation to be entirely shut down on the pretenses of phantom disrespect, for a time for said reset shall surely need to be named, then just lock the thread.

I don't know what you want from me here.

Having been a part of a few of Locusts events centered in Vallaki, I can verify there is early morning events. I can verify they do happen. They do have bigger effects, perhaps your chars just arent involved, as no one can be in all events?

I never said there weren't early morning events, I just pointed out there weren't as many. I didn't say they don't happen, I've just said there haven't been major event plotlines in the same way there are during peak hours, but I don't know what 'bigger effects,' means. Bigger than what?
