Prayers Unanswered: the story of Sabina Ennaies
« on: November 09, 2023, 03:53:53 PM »
The following thread exists to journal the background and life of Sabina Ennaies (nee Timenelov) in her adventures throughout the Core.  Please leave it for me to post in!  If you are mentioned in the post and do not wish to be, please message me and I will remove or anonymise the entry.

Please note anything in here should not be treated as learned in-character.

This writing will be a little more experimental than Livu's bio thread, I hope it is enjoyed.

One convention: text in quote blocks represent journal entries or letters/etc.  Other text represents narration.

The Devil's Village
I. INNOCENT

Sabina could still feel his breath on her.  Even now.  Even as she washed the blood from her face, seeing pieces of what once was her face wash away on the streams gentle tide.  It burbled, indifferent to her trouble.

Breathing down her neck, insisting she open it, insisting on his prize.

Well, there was a prize indeed... but not what was wanted.

The confluence of colours still in her vision persisted as a reminder of that moment, the motes of light still spattered across what vision remain.  She no longer even hurt, which, when mind caught up to the rest of her, struck her as odd. She ... could see herself in the water.  It was not pleasant.

Teufeldorf had many outlanders then, and he was among one of them, her supposed patron - wealthy beyond measure out of his complete disregard for his own safety.  Plundering immortji tombs.  Fighting devils from iadul.  They told stories of the callous behaviour of such individuals, but, one supposed, Sabina knew the truth of them now.

Father had been insistent.  Need for coin drove him more than any other thing, and that left him little better in the situation than the outlanders whom would draw harm to her in their capriciousness.

She knew that such locks were beyond her ability, but she hardly expected the trap.

Little did she know yet ... a greater trap would yet await her.
