New lighting system affecting indoors
« on: September 10, 2023, 04:19:06 PM »
Ever since the recent update of 2.29i, with the major lighting overhaul, indoor areas are seemingly being affected as well by it. As the day progresses, the lighting will change to affect it as if you were outdoors. I cannot find any common reason why or how, only that it seems to be client side and will cycle itself if you enter and leave again whenever.

Below is an example of The Lady's Rest.

Lighting being affected:

Entering again randomly some time later, back to normal:

This seemingly effects any indoor area I've noticed. I've seen it in other buildings and dungeons. I cannot discern a cause or reason.

I've experienced the same thing in the Herczog cabin.  Gets dark at night indoors, but during the day is bright.

There's a similar issue with the Spider Cave, in Baratak Mountains. Sometimes it's its usual red fog self, some other times it's full bright and no fog.

Lighting changing to match the day/Night cycle would fit for a building where windows exist, Candles don't offer that much light in reality but yeah this does seem to be behaving in some unintended ways.

Gendarmerie also gets that "full bright" effect sometimes. And the Governor's Hotel lobby.

Thanks for the eloborate reports. Just to be clear, when you notice it, could you find out:

A. Whether others in the area see the same.

B. If relogging helps.

So for A. - I've said it does seem to be client side. It's not clear if people will see it at the same time that I do, but the answer to B should make it a little more clear (hopefully?)

For B. Relogging does change the lighting. Here is me in Raduta Keep as it's effected by the lighting system:

And here is me logging out and right back in - You can see the blue fog in the distance is all gone now. Everything looks a bit darker as it normally should.

I kind of like it, in the pictures shown by the OP. It's a bit unusual but it accounts for window lighting. Too bad it breaks down everywhere else.
