Here we go VORACIOUS again.
« on: September 05, 2023, 12:58:10 AM »
I do like to play a PC who has the voracious feat, 100 OCR rating and such, the problem is - if you travel somewhere - you get hungry, you can't find a goblin/bandit/hag etc. to kill and devour. So.. may be it's a good idea to add such item as a.. flesh, brains, bones.. bodies, hands.. droppable.. so voracious PC can carry it and devour whatever they want?

This just sounds like normal food but with extra steps. The downside of Voracious is the scarcity and risk of finding food, this should remain imo.

Voracious is not just eating human flesh. It's what you get from it that you have it for.

Anyone can just be a cannibal, not much stops you from emoting from eating someone's corpse. Voracious demands you partake in that flesh specifically to obtain unholy power from it, it's not just a "oh im hungry for some arm right now" feat.

Indeed, the benefits of the voracious feat are powerful enough as is that making it easier to get the boons would be unbalancing.

Truth is that is even why it is still on our to do list to adapt and implement the Burial Blessing spell as a mean, among other things, for PCs to make corpses unpalatable to those with the voracious feats.

Since it talks about using unholy water for evil alignment, would it still stop someone from eating it?  Or would an evil ritual make it more palatable for a voracious person? (Not granting extra benefits, but flavor text wise)

A reversal to the benefits of Burial Blessings is not ruled out, but not in the current plans either considering the current options available to voracious characters. We'll get the burial blessing spell to work as intended first, then we'll assess if a reverse process is truly required.

As a priest of the Morninglord temple a blessing spell would do wonders, we have had both people proper RP but also people sneaking in during low hours to just eat a corpse where the NPC's cant see (or just steal bodies outright) but the blessings would be nice to counteract that :)

Then, is it possible to simply add more loot to humanoids? It is annoying to see the corpse vanishing after dead because it has no loot and you being a hungry voracious.

Perhaps a solution to that could be to enable it to be used on subdued corpses? Which then triggers a kill action? I mean I can see that being more scripting but no clue how complicated

Yes, this is also an option I think of, annoying. I understand some people do not want to let us voraciounists to be able to eat our food everywhere, but this is not just.. logical enough, why I can't carry the corpse with me or a part of it to eat it in another place? I don't get it.

Does the Natural Healer feat give you HP on rest even if you're completely starving from voracious or otherwise?

More tarnished wedding bands!  Yay!

It kind of makes you wonder how many marriages/divorces happen in Barovia.

Never checked but it should, you still regenerate a lot of HP even if you are hungry as hell.. if you have the voracious feat of course. If you are patched you can regenerate full HP being hungry.
