Bug was discovered in les forges de Vincent.
Bug not noted during especially busy hours
Bug has miners bag continue to have weight as if it still had cargo AFTER it is deposited, was placed in a 60% magic bag.
I have been able to recreate the bug by putting the miners bag in a 60% reduction magic bag, then I pick up any mining material before emptying the bag into a container, in overall character inventory weight nothing changes but the bag description reflects the change in weight.
Was able to fix by dropping bag out of inventory.

The weight of bags don't update unless items are added or removed, because NWN is quirky. I believe the fix for this particular bug is that when a minute ticks over theres a scripted recheck for inventory weight updates.

Does your bug still persist after 60 seconds have passed?

Can confirm this bug exists for years.

And also say that if you pick up any item (or do anything that changes your inventory weight) it gets fixed.

Ore didn't add to weight when using a mining bag inside a magic bag

So I discovered today that when I use a mining bag from INSIDE a magic bag to vacuum up ore on the ground, it doesn't add to my overall encumbrance.

This was in the iron mine under Dvergheim.

Happens. The second you make any adjustment at all to your weight, it'll update to the proper value though.

This has been a longstanding issue and since there's no good fix for it, I'll just disable the use of crafting containers that are inside item containers (such as bags, boxes).

Can we not do this EO as it will make organising herbs take three times as many actions going from

Open bag - Use Crafting container

to

Open bag - Drag Crafting container out - Close and reopen inventory to get the activete option to show so you can use it - Open bag - Drag container back in

It's needlessly grindy and the inventory weight bug is fairly minor as the second you update your inventory it fixes itself.

I'd rather we made things take LESS overall actions not more. NWN inventory is ass at the best of times.

I'd also like to suggest either leaving the system in place or another solution.

Crafting is already a grind, some of which is intentional to make a trade off between time and reward.

But it's to the player's benefit (particularly if you have old hands and a limited budget for replacing mice) to not have the interface itself be punishing to the player. Making crafting and resource gathering take even more input has that potential.

inventory organizing is already a colossal pain, i strongly agree with this

The weight auto-updates to where it needs to be after a minute or so anyway.

It autoupdates when anything in the regular inventory is changed, or strength is increased/decreased.

(Equipping unequipping items, moving one around in your inc, things like that)

You understand that this is about USING a mining bag from the magic bag, not the use of the mining bag itself itself. You won't explode from herbs, or ores. You'll just simply have to drag it out of your magic bag to be able to use it.

Yes.

But there's like still no value to doing this imo.

Yes but that makes something that takes 2 clicks of the mouse take 5 and I'd prefer not to have to move 40+ Herb pouches around to just fill them up that takes 80 clicks into well over 200

Not just that, but when your exhaustion would tick it updates your weight too as an additional thing that runs on this server. So there's a fix in place even if it's not perfect. I do prefer to fill my herb pouches from within a box rather than pull it out for filling.

The same sort of weight thing happens when you unequip a shield directly into a weight reducted bag.

Thanks for that information. I've managed to find a way to fix the initial bug without disabling the use of crafting containers inside bags.

It looks fixed, EO. For the three scenarios below, I had a miner's bag inside a magic bag, and used the quickbar to use it:
- grabbing ores from the ground
- putting ores on the smelter
- grabbing ingots from the smelter

On the three scenarios the weight was correctly updated.
