Bug Report: Assay Resistance not working?

So I've had little success overcoming SR with Assay Resistance. This is in comparison with Disjunction, which does seem to have some effect.

I'm wondering if Assay Resistance is broken.

So this happened both with the Mist Dragon and with Malthor; I tried to use Assay Resistance on both and it had little effect. I was forced to retreat in both instances. I wasn't able to return to the Mist Dragon.

When I came back to Malthor, I used Disjunction on Malthor and was then able to affect him with other spells.

Hence why my suspicion that Assay Resistance isn't working.

One further note: I was using Extend on Assay Resistance in both cases.

Sounds like spell-mantle was on on Malthor and absorbed the spell before you removed the protection with disjunction. Have screenshots of the combat logs?

Neither Malthor nor the Mist Dragon had a Spell Mantle in their buff sequence (Malthor has Improved Invisi, Mass Haste, and Epic Mage Armour). Moreover, Assay Resistance has "Spell Resistance: No" which to my understanding means it ought to ignore Spell Mantle (https://nwn.fandom.com/wiki/Spell_mantle : "Mantles do not absorb all spells, just the ones that check spell resistance" ).

The log unfortunately showed nothing informative. There was the VFX from the Assay Resistance striking its target, but my spells were still failing very frequently (as opposed to when I hit Malthor with Disjunction, at which point most if not all of them work).

I'll try to see if I can isolate some logs next time I'm in the situation.

Assay Resistance should apply an effect to the caster as well as the target since it has to treat you as 10 CL higher vs your target, and the spell resistance also needs to check for this effect and that the tags match.

There should be some spell list feedback when it's active on you in the @dispel list I suspect. Since Assay Resistance doesn't work the same as Mordenkainen's Disjunction there's quite a few different scripts to check, and part of it is probably dispellable in Malthor's case if he's trying to clear out AoE's on him.

Not sure if this is helpful at all but Assay resistance also has a really short duration, I personally never found it to be a reliable way to help with sr

It should have a duration of 1 round/level, so not that short....
