Holy Sword works for all characters.

I guess it /might/ not be a bug, but from base NWN it is. I think. As stated on the base-game NWN forums, Holy Avengers work for paladins as +5 weapons, but only as +2 for non-paladins. As it stands, this isn't the case.

You're also a rogue.

Depending on the item value of what you put it on, it's possible your Use Magic Device skill is allowing you to use the effect as if you are a paladin.

(This is an actual thing for rogues with 15+ UMD)

This is untrue I’ve definitely had the divine damage added using it as a scroll.  The scrolls are also not common so I don’t particularly see the issue.

I always thought this was intentional with UMD, since in order to get the effect as a non-paladin you'd need to UMD the scroll anyway to get the effect and you probably have enough UMD to qualify for the holy avenger properties if you're able to use the scroll reliably.

Interesting. Was it only Unholy Sword that was changed, then? Because I have certainly seen the above described behaviour in practice before.

As far as I'm aware holy sword is usable by anyone but only gives you +5 unless you have enough umd to gain the other benefits as well. It doesn't matter whether it's a scroll or not. I don't think that's ever changed, the only thing that might be different is how much umd is required to accomplish that on potm v vanilla, but I think it's just a flat 25.
