No, worg is just negative saving throws, and there'll be no more secret properties on enchanting so it will just stay negative saving throws.

Unless I'm crazy, Worg Lining on armour grants 5/- Negative energy resist before enchanting, with saving vs cold + negative instead of death + negative. Unless that changed in the tailoring update.

Worg gained a negative energy DR only after being enchanted. This bonus is being eliminated.
Pre enchantment it was a ST +2, which will decrease to +1.

Really?  That seems incorrect.  Misread this as a save, not DR.
Behold, Emmanuelle's boots:

They are not enchanted.  I have not yet enchanted anything, on any character, ever.

I may be missing something but I don't see the Damage Resistance on those boots, just the +2 Saving Throw vs Negative that MAB mentioned.

Yeah, I was editing that just as you posted.  I misread it as a save.  Not DR.  My bad.

Also, remember the extra bonus for enchanting linings was on armor slot items only. Boots never got DR even enchanted.

I am curious if the cost to enchant will go down. New players are going to see smaller power spikes with longer gaps between them due to a relative loss in power, with each piece of gear mattering quite a lot less.

It had been said before in the thread that no, the costs will remain the same. (IIRC)

Edit: See here:
Are we going to see a decrease in enchantment cost to make up for the difference in stat bumps?

What will be offered to existing level 20 characters with enchanted gear?

No, this adjustment is to correct years of power creep.

Level 20th characters should not be penalized by this change. The only difference being that should enchant any new gear before trading the old one to regain the XP.

Thanks, I missed it. I agree with the assessment that level 20s, by the time they're fully enchanted, basically have that gear as icing on the cake. Of course there's nothing wrong with reducing power around the level 13-15 enchanting loop levels overall, but I still think capping the amount of enchanted armor would serve as a better way to curb the power of longtime characters with access to any gear they like.

Greetings,

I have some good news for the community. After reworking parts of the crafting system, we've made it possible to automatically reimburse components and XP that were expended when crafting an item. When the crafting update goes through, you will be able to place crafted items you no longer want in a container in the Main Hall. Upon doing so, the item will be permanently destroyed and all components that went into its creation will be spawned in your inventory (so make sure to have room), along with any XP sacrificed to enchant it. The type and number of ingredients and XP amount will be reimbursed using the current recipes, not the ones used in the item's creation, should they differ. This is a limitation of the system, though should only affect a handful of very old recipes.

Only items crafted prior to the update will be eligible for reimbursement, though in the future, if other crafted items are retroactively changed, they will also be eligible. PCs who have reached their level cap will receive an XP credit to be used for enchanting items since they cannot gain further XP.

The item's destruction is permanent and irreversible; DMs will not offer support unless a bug is found. Use of the container will be logged and any misuse will be dealt with following our consistent rulings and punishments (eg. bans for exploits, confiscation of items and progression on the track for giving items to others for OOC reasons). If we notice widespread or frequent abuse, we will simply remove the option, so play nice.

As mentioned by MAB in the original post, there is still no ETA for the crafting update, as it will follow the hak update. We hope this announcement will reassure those of you who were worried about your current items.

My only question as a level 20 character is - will the XP refunded be subject to the cap? I'd hope not, naturally.

No, it won't, nor will it be for lower levels.

Nice work.

Possible to also include the return of the radiant/glowing essence?

I need to get 1 armor 1 shield 1 deflection piece enchanted to have +3 AC to come closer to parity with clerics doing +4 and +5.

Then there's boots for dodge AC, and a sword, so 5 items enchanted out of 7 possible slots. :/ I'd be a bit upset if I couldnt do at least 5 enchanted items and my fighter falls further behind a caster that can cast spells to replace those slots and wear other gear.

This is why I suggested individual items becoming stronger with the cap. With the new system you need to have more equipment to reach parity. Partying up should always be best but now we need to get a full set of gear for marginal, incremental bonuses, not unlike the gear treadmill of a modern MMORPG. I don't find that type of itemisation entirely fitting for a roleplay server. It's rather tedious compared to the discovery of the Atlantean sword for example.

Previously, these items were very powerful on their own. I would say that certain mechanical strengths and weaknesses are positive as far as RP goes. In an RP server where actual combat decides the outcome of stories, a legendary weapon or suit of armour has more sentimental value if its power level isn't so attenuated for the sake of fairness, and tiny little bonuses tacked on here and there aren't as iconic when that's the norm with so little deviation from it.

tl;dr The mechanical nerf may be almost negligible, but I think the theme of the server is somewhat eroded by enchanting having to receive so much extra attention for a character to receive the same benefits as before. My $0.02 and I just feel like there's a better way to curb the power level of many-year max levels who will barely notice.

Question: I have a bodak lining armor. I'll receive bodak patches?

Because I want the nwgative enwrgy resist and I'd like to not have to go tlhunting void spiders and finding new materials for an atribute I used to have.

I can understand losing the acid dr in electrum (there is no more in the game from gilding) but losing the negative dr because the materials changed is a pain.

Also, finding smiths that will not waste your reaources is awful.

The solution is tied to the variables on a crafted item, so yes, a bodak lining will get you bodak leather patches. I understand your preference and the nuisance this represents, but swapping bodak linings for bolts of shadow silk, turned out to come with undesired side effects. This won't be coming for a few months still. Something tells me plenty of parties will build up stock of shadow silk threads for the occasion. I don't expect it will be much of a bother acquiring a bolt. There is also plenty of competent smiths around, you should not have too much issues finding one.

One very important thing we are still looking at is how the solution handles the refund of pre-tailoring overhaul clothes. If you still have one of such, get a DM to do a dumplocals on the item, take a screenshot and send it over to me through Discord.
Best Regards!

The nerf is still pretty harsh, but with the option of refunding all that was spend gives one at least the option to take it or leave it. Could the XP storage also be implemented for level 19's so you don't accidently level up and loose what XP they've 'overspent'

This is a compromise we can be happy with.

Thanks for understanding my nuisance. That is indeed annoying, but happens. Thank you and the rest of the team for looking for a solution. I'll myself try to gather a party for resources.

Even though the nerf is pretty brutal, I'm a lot happier with this change with the option to refund crafted materials and XP. I think this could work.
