Refuge of Hope
« on: April 02, 2023, 05:37:10 AM »

'All are welcomed here. Come join for prayer, mediation or rest when the night is long.'
Quote
Along the Berez road, a small encampment beckons to travelers. At the entrance, a crudely drawn sign proclaims the name 'Refuge of Hope.' Wax candles cast warm light upon a simple wooden altar, upon which a sylvan figure stands with arms outstretched in a welcoming embrace, his lips stained with blood. Golden flowers surround the shrine, while benches and chairs invite weary souls to rest and find solace.

Whether seeking refuge from the long night or a moment of prayer during the day, this humble sanctuary offers an inviting presence to all who enter.

After a powerful windstorm or some other natural event, the shrine is destroyed or otherwise made gone.

A simple altar has been built there, with a single bench in front of it.  The altar has a single candle upon it and is mostly unadorned aside from a few basic images of the sun.

Another very simple altar erected after the previous altar was removed or blown away.  There is only an altar and two candles but it does provide a spot of respite on the road to Berez for any who might come by.

After a storm, a large shrine had been built at the typical site.  With supplies left by the altar and a modicum of provided shelter, the Refuge of Hope can live up to it's name once again.

Some long-lasting food was left in the offering box under the altar, along with a number of useful kits of bandages and herbs.

At daybreak, those journeying along the road to Berez may stumble upon a disturbing sight - the once peaceful Refuge of Hope now bears the marks of a violent conflict. Blood stains the dirt ground, footprints scatter haphazardly around the refuge, and clear evidence of a struggle can be discerned. No remains are found though.

After the recent conflict, the Morninglordian of the refuge has been noticeably absent and it appears that the refuge has ceased activity for the time being.

The Morninglordian responsible for the Refuge may have taken a break, but someone else hasn't.  Another simple altar is put up in the same place, all the debris and such from any battle cleared away.
