Remove that Theiving Chandelier
« on: March 16, 2023, 09:12:12 PM »
Can the Chandelier in the vistanni healers Vardo be removed.
Not sure how many times people have lost gold to it.
I think it earned its fair share of coin and deserves retirement.
Perhaps the healer can light her vardo via less criminal furniture.

You can also stop drop-trading gold over placeable objects, just barter with folks and use the menu, why would you empty someones coinpurse onto the ground? This'll happen with any placeable object people drop gold over.

It might be possible to elevate the chandelier on the Z axis and then lower its visual position relative to its point so it becomes unreachable but otherwise still there, maybe. Might prevent it without ruining the look of the vardo. But people might still give gold to the nearby cabinets or carpets instead. Can't stop dumb people trying to circumvent the barter screen and giving gold to something else.

For those of you lucky enough to have never run into this issue, it is that objects (such as the chandelier, or even blood puddles left when you're bleeding out) can "accept" GP while remaining part of the backdrop. The solution then is having to destroy that object to create remains (which POTM generally doesn't support). If a player has never encountered this peculiarity of NWN before, there's slim to zero chance of that player anticipating the issue before GP is lost. I ran into this issue myself when trying to "set the stage", turning what otherwise would've been light antagonism (to manipulate someone), into the possibility of being accused of OOC griefing. Thankfully everyone understood that it was a nonsense bug that was ruining things, not any deliberate attack.

But why not just remove the issue that occurs in the most common place.
It happens often enough that "just trade it" is a bit of a hindsight thing rather than a solution.

The solution is remove every placeable object everywhere including created ones. Or learn that this is a thing that happens with no solution aside from adding a script to every placeable to force-return gold given. If it's not the chandelier, it'd be something else.

Thats a bit dramatic, Its only really for the place where bodies get raised.
