Vallaki - Shores of Lake Zarovich

In the morning of July 28, 774 BC -- reports of a bizarre, inexplicable incident spreads across Vallaki City, as over a dozen unidentified bodies -- all of them headless and reeking of sewage, were discovered washing up on the shores of Lake Zarovich.

Within the annals of Vallaki Citadel's historical records, this event would later notoriously become known as "The Headless Tide Massacre"..

[In the month since the incident that had blighted Mount Baratak, the spring thaw gives way to renewed life. The industrious fishermen of Vallaki rejoice at the Angler's Rest with tankards of Tsuika to celebrate the return of the fishing trade. While the numbers were fewer than prior catches of the season, the darkness appears to have lifted and left the hope of prosperity in its place.]

Upon the northern shore of Lake Zarovich, far along the bank, a curious sight awaits for any who walk the shore that night.

[Rumors spread that the Corporal, Benedikte has been seen by a few of the locals, walking up to Lake Zarovich near the Romulich Orchard with Vallaki's most favorite gravekeeper, Ophelia Bell. It is said that he was holding a dead dog as well. A dead guard dog. What he was doing with the dead dog and walking so closely to Ophelia is only rumor what went on.

Previously, the two had been witnessed walking together within the city. Sometimes in uniform and sometimes out of uniform. Some would even report them being rather close as they smile at each other.]

Under the watch of the old noapte, friends and faithful of the Morninglord, are seen gathering around the shores of Lake Zarovich, just outside the grey city walls. Even under the ever-present, looming shadow of the castle, a ray of light broke through that night. Celebrations echoed through the affair. As usual, Barovians sneered, looking on with discontent at the faith's naive views on the existence of their land, considering it foolish to be out at during the hour of the supernatural. Yet, nothing awry occurred. As dawn rose and the large congregation celebrated the coming of the dawn, some local faithful whispered that through the grey clouds, rays of sunlight shone down upon the mass gathering.
