Jewelry Crafting
« on: January 26, 2023, 02:59:40 PM »
Title sort of says it all.
Could a Jewelry Craft be added?
Something where we can use the Bars smelted to make rings and necklaces.
As for the stones in the Jewelry there are plenty of precious and non precious stones that get picked up and just traded away for quick coin.
Enchanting would play a role here as well.
Simply would be 1 Bar, 1 Stone for Rings. 1 Bar, 1-3 Stones for a necklace.
Not sure haven't thought out the mechanics or procedures would be a task for the dev team but might be a cool idea.

Jewelcrafting and gemcutting are both ready to be implemented, but a decision was made not to go ahead with this.

The tailoring overhaul already tipped the scales a lot in terms of power and game balance. Adding more crafted items at this time is not advisable without nerfing (at least) tailoring and armor crafting first.

It's been suggested that it could be implemented as a RP craft, but that would be a tremendous amount of work for items with no practical purposes. Beside, if you wish to craft a non magical item for RP purposes, DMs will gladly assist.

Since it won't be added, could we know what it would have been / the stats given, and so on? For funsies.

I'd rather not give the full plan, as the door is not necessarily forever closed. But in broad strokes

Gemcutting would have been used to prepare stones to be used in jewelcrafting and/or to increase their value before selling them to NPCs. Jewelcrafting would have produced rings, amulets and belt buckles. Gilding metals would be the main components, with cut gems as the optional secondary components.

Properties ranging from ST bonuses, to skill bonuses, and maybe even spell charges.

Best Regards!

I was hoping a bit for spell sequencers and ioun stones but likely considerably broken depending on how that could be implemented.

The current jewellery slots have items comparable to crafted already when it comes to saving throws in various forms.

i would have been happy if they simply gave off influence bonuses, as in "look at this bling".

Character List:

Marph - Closured
Marius Rucescu - Closured
Romeo Lascaris - Closured

Plenty of jewelry already gives that.
