Now that the festive season has passed, the Development Team in conjunction with the Community Council has reviewed the results of the Streaming survey. Thankyou to everyone who took part. The responses are as follows:
Question | Yes | No | Indifferent |
Should live streaming be allowed on Ravenloft: Prisoners of the Mist? | 165 | 76 | 53 |
Would you allow any PoTM content to be used to create tutorials, advertisements, or demonstrations of the server, possibly to be hosted on YouTube or other external sites? | 241 | 18 | 35 |
Would you allow the continued use of any PoTM content being used to create tutorials, advertisements, or demonstrations of the server, possibly to be hosted in YouTube or other external sites? | 232 | 18 | 44 |
Would you allow the live streaming of advertised player or DM events, providing the fact such was going to take place was advertised via the forums in advance? | 205 | 55 | 34 |
Would you allow the live steaming of public places and server hubs, such as the Mist Camp, Dementlieu's Quartier Publique, or Vallaki's Western Outskirts? | 181 | 77 | 36 |
Would you allow the live streaming of role playing of private events behind closed doors? | 106 | 138 | 50 |
Would you allow the live streaming of role play held behind closed doors? [i.e. not publicly accessible?] | 101 | 144 | 49 |
Would requiring players to have some form of visible in-game status indicating they were streaming make you more apt to allow live streaming? | 164 | 73 | 57 |
Would allowing any form of live streaming cause you to leave the server? | 33 | 216 | 45 |
In light of these results, we will be moving forward with a streaming policy that, we hope, will balance the freedom of streamers to share our exciting world of roleplay whilst respecting players’ rights to privacy and control of their work.
The exact wording of the guidelines is still under discussion, but in the broadest strokes it is likely to permit streaming of public goings-on, and of DM and Player Events by agreement with the organiser, so long as participants are made aware in advance.
We will also enact some sort of tool or toggle for streamers to use when they’re live, so that players are made aware. The exact nature of that is still in development.
Thankyou for your continued patience.
