Suggestion Section Update
« on: October 24, 2022, 09:14:15 PM »
Lately, some topics seem to be having a resurgence of reoccurring themes that keep debating the same issues in circles, in just varying different words. It would be helpful if there was a new pinned thread with the most frequently recurring topics listed, the server's current stance on such, and when it was last visited/discussed (if possible). And that the topic will no longer be discussed/debated or take suggestions on at this given time.

That if someone felt the overwhelming need to voice a view on it, it can be submitted via PM to the staff, and if the staff feels it a viable topic worth reopening the discussion back into they can officially do so. But other wise, further posting is not to be done. Because certain topics are starting to feel like they are experiencing fatigue of pointlessness going in circles and stirring up stuff for no need.

Most threads naturally run their course if there's nothing to be done about the suggestion, or they are locked if they become real problems. What's the use in putting a waiting period on discussions, especially those that are purposefully sectioned off in their own threads? Does the staff team, with everything else they're busy with, really have to give us permission to just talk about suggestions?

A few threads of a similar theme cropped up recently because a change was just made that some find inconvenient. The devs have asked us to post suggestions while they monitor the situation. The polls were put in place to more quickly gauge reactions to the idea, and give people a voice even if they'd rather not post. The votes were clear and discussion ended in a few days. In that time, I didn't resort to stirring up anything, pointing fingers, or flaming people, and neither did the poster of the other thread.

I'd like to take a quick moment to highlight that the forums are for open discussion on the server and its various aspects. The only time the moderation team will intervene in a discussion/topic is if it goes heavily off rails, begins to take an uncordial tone, or is needlessly inflammatory from the punch. Having said this, such a suggestion goes clearly against the spirit of what a public forum is intended for.

I would kindly like to ask for yourself or anyone else to allow for the development team to have time to deliberate upon one or multiple topics of a similar subject, as some may be missed by individuals who do not use the forums as much and could benefit from a similar thread to write their thoughts on it. Furthermore, recurring topics are not exactly a bad thing, often bringing it more to our attention and potentially accelerating our internal discussions towards a decision (though this is not always guaranteed). There are many suggestions and discussions we would like to get around to as a staff that the community brings up, but we also have our lives to look after and also other immediate interests.

I can say with certainty we would not wish to extend that time on the lookout for repeat threads, and as stated, is better to let them run their course at no actual harm to anyone.
