Lost coins not spawning ?

Less than an hour ago, while fighting the vampire AMPC, my character dropped 40k gold, however the coins didn't spawwn, and thus were poofed out of existence.
It was in the western outskirts of Vallaki, just after the paved road becomes dirt.
