Primeur Wine Festival
Hosted by the Red Vardo Traders and House Ambroiseux
An event showcasing unique and rare vintages of wines throughout the Core. Primeur is a celebration in Dementlieu that takes place when the wine of the past year is ready to drink. Rare and unique wine can be submitted and will be tasted by a panel of esteemed judges for which tastes the best in two contests, one of the newest vintages and one of the older vintages. The winner of the tasting contest of the newest wine will be judged this year's Primeur King or Queen, and be given a special prize. Though there is no honorary title for the older vintage tasting, a prize will be offered for the winning vintage. The evening is expected to be filled with fair music, dancing, and trade from merchants around the Core.
Rules and Stipulations:
Entry will be free to the civilized public.
The dress code is formal.
Merchants will be allowed to reserve a stall for a fee 3,000 solars.
There will be two separate tastings, one for the new wines of the past year and one from the ages.
All submitted wines must be a unique vintage.
All wines shall be submitted prior to the tasting, by the end of November 8th.
Only one vintage of each type (one new, one old) can be submitted per person.
Wines and inquiries can be submitted to Mlle. Éléonore Ambroiseux.
To be held on Saturday, November 12th in the evening at the estate of our esteemed Cultural Advisor, Sieur Regnier Chaboteaux. Transportation will be provided.
OOC: Submitted wines must be custom bottles of wine that do not currently exist in the toolset, or if they do, they are rare and unique. Stock wines from merchants and NPCs will not make it far in the tasting.
To make a custom wine to submit, contact a DM through the generic requests (either on the forums or when one is available in-game, NOT through Discord unless prompted). It would be good to have a description written up, as well as a general location of where it's from as long as it makes sense for your character to have obtained it from there (i.e. no cheesing saying that you got it from Azalin Rex or stole it from Castle Ravenloft). I would like to do this as a fun experiment with player creativity and collaboration. Write up a good description, speak to a DM and then follow up with someone IC to submit it!
It has also been requested that players do not wait until the last minute to ask a DM to help make their wine. Depending on how many people get custom items made, this could end up swamping the DMs available. You can submit one ANYTIME between now and the listed deadline, do not put it off.
Q: How is this structured?
A: There are two contests. One contest permits older event wines to be submitted. One requires newer wines to be obtained that are the present year's vintage, as Primeur is about tasting the NEWEST wines of the year.
Q: Does it have to be Dementlieuse wine?
A: Nope! Feel free to submit rare elven wines or dwarven wine from Dvergeheim even. The mind is the limit.
Q: Can I submit unique wines from old plots or events?
A: Yes, so long as it is unique and not something readily available in-game. This will only be eligible for the older vintage tasting contest.
Q: Are outcasts allowed?
A: Not for this event. Or, at least if you do come to this event, expect a bit of pushback if you are outwardly and visibly an outcast.
Q: How do I get a new wine to submit?
A: Contact a DM via Generic Requests or through letters on the forums, however you can. You would ask if they can help you make a custom item/description for wine. It would be good to have a description of the taste written up to help the DM who assists you. DM Agony is helping me with this and encouraged me to refer people to them, so feel free to approach them through the appropriate channels. Alternatively, feel free to send me a message on discord and I can help guide you through any steps (Éléonore Ambroiseux#8653).
This will be held on the Saturday after NCE. November 12th at 4pm CST.
