Barovia - Balinok Mountains - Dvergeheim
« on: May 05, 2022, 04:06:21 PM »
In the dead of night, a cold wind blows tattered scraps of paper across the western outskirts of Vallaki. The words "dwarves" and "mountain" catch the eye of a grubby, hooded figure, who carries them off into the gloom, to in the library of the dwarven city, where they are tacked up upon a wall ...

An elf arrives at the steps of Dvergheim, introduced and escorted by a dour dwarf. She claims to be a messenger from Degannwy, seeking assistance from King Moloch, or The Archandum, leaving a message to pass to others.

The message cites that recently the dwarves of Dveurgheim were involved in a collaboration with the elves of Degannwy toward a cure of the blight that befell both people. The message also cites that that the elves would like to procure any remaining vials the Archandum, or anyone, may have. The envoy will remain in the fortress for many days awaiting anyone to come forth.

A letter sent to dvergeheim

Quote
Bannor of the Archandum,
May this letter find you well, it has been told by Barley, that you are one to seek for request of gilding in rare metals. A gilding of orichalcum is requested, once price has been determined. Please send word for meeting to blood o'vine in barovia village.

[The training hall has found a new occupant. Human, one of the peasants from down the valley. They wage a daily war against the dummies, training to collapse beating at straw and running laps around the hold in ramshackle armor. Their only found reprieve a daily meal of hard bread and few hours fitful sleep in the corner between drilling sessions.]

What seemed like a normal workday at the forge became something notable when Jasper of the Boulderkin clan brought smelted a chunk the very rare araje ore for Ulfberht of the Ulfberhtsons clan given Jasper's superior skill in smelting. Ulfberht when he arrived, shortly after the smelting finished proceeded to forge the ingots into a waraxe of superlative quality with Jasper lingering only to watch the process as the weapon was gilded in gold with the intricate intertwining bands of Dwarven art. Only at that point did he start asking for input and revealed that the weapon was for Jasper as a reward for his many deeds of valor on behalf of his people, and his generosity in kitting out newcomers to the region. Presenting it to Jasper, needing no more sacred a site than the forge itself, Ulfberht declared that without ego it was the best weapon he'd ever forged and a worthy weapon for a hero to carry, he then gave over a flask containing enough radiant essences that even the least competent of enchanters could bind it to the soul of the Boulderkin clan.
