the three resistance shirts seem backwards in their benefits

the Shirt of Chains (-/3 pierce), Shirt of Bones (-/3 blunt), and Shirt of Treant (-/3 cut) really don't make any sense, since they give you -/3 vs the damage type they should actually be weakest against considering their material.

Should really be Chains = Cut, Bone = Pierce, Treant = Blunt

I think the choices were more thematic than anything else.

How would it be thematic???

Chainmail and similar concept armor is weakest against piercing attacks which can penetrate between/push apart it's links. it's best vs slashing attacks.

Skeletons are highly resistant to pierce and always vulnerable to blunt.

A treant's damage reduction is literally by-passed by any slashing weapon (and on the other side of things, slashing weapons are used for felling trees). I'd give the blunt reduction to the tree armor as piercing tools are sometimes used for felling trees IRL but less common, but blunt tools never are unless they're no other choice as it's highly inefficient since the trees squish pulp is quite shock absorbing.

It's more ironic than thematic, as the resistances are all opposite of what they should be given the material/design style.

Only the submitter of these items knows the truth, but my bet is indeed on irony and that makes them perfect as is.

I never noticed this, and I agree with you. My bet is whoever submitted it just got the resistance qualities wrong, but if the development team want to leave as is then it's a very small thing to overlook, good call though.

I always wonder about the choice of the name and we could admit that they are the shirts that protect against the creature vulnerability.

A treant would be naturally resistant to piercing and bludgeoning, therefore needing protection against slashing.

Hedien Gine: Arrow and Bow Artist.
