Notebook d'Orsine
« on: November 08, 2021, 03:52:00 PM »
A sturdy notebook, well-crafted for use in the field. The thick-cut pages are of a good quality paper, though perhaps not the finest. The supple leather cover is soft enough to let the thing fit comfortably in the breast pocket, the bottom corner of the cover stamped with the soldier-bear heraldry of House d'Orsine. The inside cover has in simple ink the name "Espen."

The first page has been left blank. The following page or two has been torn out. On the third page, under the heading of 'Lecture Notes" a crude doodle has been made. Text above it reads "Bear d'Ouvrier"

Beneath it is a date, presumably related.

Another attempt was made in the poor student's notebook. The mock trial was apparently no better for note-taking than his previous courses. The page dedicated to its study has instead been rendered with a dramatic departure of the prosecution making their case, under the watchful eyes of the honorable Judge Bearegard.

Beneath the image is the word scribbled "J'accuse!" with several emphatic underlines.

Despite sponsoring the play, it seems poor Espen cannot sit in any one place that long without finding some way to occupy himself.

Following the enlightening excursion to the old fortress and a brilliant arcane demonstration, Sieur Bearington weighs in on the military vs. arcane debate.

Our dedicated student attends another lecture at the university. Across the top of the page scrawled words read:
"Monsieur Bearington discovers practical applications for the arcane."

Then, appended briefly a the bottom a more distressing note:
"Jaunt attracts spiders."

A random page has been torn from the book proper, now instead tucked safely away and concealed in the lining of the notebook. It contains a half-finished drawing, as though the subject woke up before it could be completed.

A doodle seemingly apropos of nothing. A pleased bear and some broken furniture. Perhaps the city is taking its toll on the Baron.
