Hak Update 2_26 - Detailed List of Changes
« on: November 03, 2021, 08:33:35 PM »
We've now loaded a new version of the hak on the test server to test new features and changes.

At this point we'll need your help testing this new content to make sure it works properly and there are no bugs. If you wish to help us test, you'll need to download the following haks:

-CEP 2.65 (if you don't already have it, download and extract to your My Documents\Neverwinter Nights\ folder)
-POTM Hak Test - 2_26.7z (extract to your My Documents\Neverwinter Nights\ folder)

Once you have extracted both haks into the Neverwinter Nights folder, you will find our test server at IP Address & Port: 46.4.59.55:5124 - use it for "Direct Connect". Once connected, you can either use existing characters or create a new one, using the new class, which can be found at the bottom of the list of classes; all new characters can freely level up to level 20 on the test server for now. You can find more detailed information here.

Try to test as many things as possible, such as spellcasting, feats, unique abilities, leveling, multiclassing, etc. and report anything that feels off, or incorrect here. I've updated the list of changes to include scripting changes that can be tested as well.

Class Changes & Fixes:
-New base class: Favored Soul.

Spell Changes:
-Added Boreal Wind to the Warmage's spell list.
-Updated Time Stop's description to clarify how it functions on POTM.
-Updated Mind Blank's description to indicate it doesn't remove Feeblemind.
-Made it possible to become a Divine Champion with throwing axes, cutting wheels and war fans.
-Fixed an issue with the blackguard's Create Fiend/Create Greater Fiend abilities not showing the right spell name.

Heads:

-Added 27 human female heads (200 to 226).

-Added 20 human male heads (220 to 239).

-Added 1 new female halfling head (157).

-Added 1 new female half-orc head (157).

-Added 1 new male half-orc head (160).

-Fixed issues with various large phenotype heads that were broken.

Clothing options:

- Added 4 new cloaks (235 to 238).

- Added Asian-themed armor appearances:
Spoiler: List of appearances • show
[li]4 helms (211, 213, 214, 215)[/li]
[li]3 clothing torsos (230, 231, 234)[/li]

[li]1 banded mail torso (AC 6) (233)[/li]
[li]3 armor shoulders (225 to 227)[/li]

[li]4 armor feet (225 to 228)[/li]
[li]2 armor necks (225, 226)[/li]
[li]2 armor pelvis (225, 226)[/li]
Miscellaneous:
-Changed the size of small holdable items so small characters can wield them.
-Added dozens of new placeables (see the demo area on the test server).
-Fixed texture issues in the Castle Exterior, Rural tileset.

Cloaks are interesting.

235-238 cloak styles all remove the armor shoulders.  Even though it looks like there would be very minimal clipping.  More options seems better in this case.  If someone wanted the cloak appearance without shoulders, they can change their shoulders pieces on their armor instead.  I don't think we need to worry about clipping when (nearly) every piece of armor can be adjusted to avoid it anyways.  Its player agency and trust.

Here is an example of the cloak equipped, the cloak unequipped, and a mock-up of what it should do.

Cloak 31 texture seems sideways or pointing to the wrong file.

Cloak 0?  Or the Hidden cloak is now missing and no longer in the list.  I'm not sure if thats intentional or not.  If so, I'd argue against it as a detriment to player creativity and agency.

The Asian themed armors look cool, a couple pieces are wonky but they're good additions!

I'm a big advocate for player agency in cosmetics.  Personally I think all cloaks shouldn't hide a characters shoulder armor.  The playerbase can definitely be trusted to choose appearances that are friendly and cool.  Especially since the following screenshot is achievable with our current available models, and I never see anyone look like this.

I have a cloak that disallows modification, and an armor that is extremely pricey to modify due to its properties. Automatic removal of shoulders on cloaks is a welcome convenience, not an issue of trust on appearance, though if there are new cloak models that look like they genuinely don't need shoulder removals I'm fine with those being adjusted.

Thanks, I've found the cause and will fix it in the next version.

As for shoulder pads, there are arguments pro and against it, so not sure yet. The cloaks were already set up to hide shoulder pads.

Those cloaks would look really good with shoulders based on the image Favee linked.

I am in favour of having the cloaks not inherently hide shoulders. There is already an option in the armour crafting menu to designate your shoulder value as 0 and to not have them- why not have the ability to show them with the cloak if one wishes? Sure, with some armour it would be an added gold cost if it's a magic item... but isn't the point of the hefty price on appearance changing to be a gold sink?

Cloak's good, shoulder or not. In general I agree with the "most people who aren't already going to be shown the door when they're spotted aren't going out of their way to look bad" except for the starting room cloak appearances. I've seen enough people in vanilla cloak, regular scalemail, with a mismatching colored hood to know those should be kept sacred.

Honestly I'm just happy to have them. There's a bunch of appearances I've seen over the years, for heads and equipment alike, that I've never fully managed to track down and offer up, so it's nice to see these make it in.

Cloak 31 looks fixed.
Cloak 0 (Hidden) fixed.

I won't harp on too much more about the shoulders for cloaks 235-238, but I certainly think its worth trying it with shoulders on.

female human right shoulder 186 (Normal, Large, and Old phenotypes) has a texture / lighting bug.

The pauldron is blue until tab-highlighted.  This is regardless of any dye color on the piece.  I poked around with the PLT to see if something was wrong there, but I didn't see anything.  Though I might have opened / converted / exported it incorrectly.  Still all pretty new to me.  Its in the cep2_core7.hak

This is similar to a shader bug I had on my old laptop, Where, until the lighting on an object updated it would show a flat texture. Not sure if it is related to that but certainly seems that way. Out of curiosity does it go back to being blue when tab is released? I also don't remember if I ever had a fix for it or if it was just something I accepted given it is a 20 year old game.

It does return to blue after tab is released.  It showed up blue for the other players I asked, and it also showed up blue in the NWN Explorer program.  I couldn't find any problems with the model when I pulled it into blender, or the texture files in photoshop. :(

Are you running windows 7 by any chance I know Nvidia Drivers on Win7 can be very tempremental at times. It also might be worth disabling shadows to see if it will help. Though the fact everything seems normal in PS/Blender seems to lend credibility it is a Render issue more so than anything else.

Windows 10, Nvidia.

The shoulder is also blue on NWN mobile for Ipad.  So I don't think its a local issue to hardware / rendering.  I've asked a few other players with different setups and the shoulder renders blue for them as well.  I think it might be safe to say its a texture / model / material issue.

I'd be firmly on the side of not hiding shoulders where not strictly necessary, as unless the cloak actually covers the shoulder it looks jarring to lose your cauldron because you put on a cloak. Moreover, by making the cloak not remove shoulder pads, people who want to keep them can keep them and people who don't can remove them. Everyone has a way to get what they want. If you go the other way, you remove the choice from the equation and there will absolutely be people who might like the cloak but don't wear it because it looks goofy having their shoulders exposed without pauldrons.

Would it be worth it to just make two versions of the cloak in question with different shoulder settings? Then people can have their preference regardless.

Is there a way to flip shoulders hiding off on just those cloak models?

Yeah, though once shoulders are visible, they'll be visible no matter the armor/shoulder pads. I'll just make the shoulders visible in any case.

Another day, another update to the test server hak. Changes include:

-Added dozens of new heads (thanks to herkles' help!) from TheBarbarian's pack. You can find the list of new heads in the top post in this topic.

-Fixed multiple broken large phenotype heads across multiple subraces/genders.

-Fixed a bug with Favored Soul spellcasting.

-Made the shoulder pads visible on the new cloaks.

The link to the updated version of the hak can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kRhFeuBsVdsZu_vF-VJ3D1JBngQX4t6F/view?usp=sharing

This may be a bug in the main module too as I can't test it.

When a level 6 ranger takes their first grimetrekker level this occurs:

The vermin favoured enemy feat granted for free is being counted as part of the number of FE feats the ranger should have, making it impossible to take grimetrekker as a ranger.
