Sergei Dragoi's Stand
« on: July 01, 2021, 11:31:23 PM »
Throughout inns of Vallaki a song is circulated.

Quote
Sergei Dragoi's Stand

There stood a guardian, proud and firm.

Against the old night, and the terrors within.

There stood a protector, brave and wise.

Against the beasts of the wild, bringing the dead their demise.

Dragoi stood his post, and conquered his fear.

When the beast was at the gates, Sergei's purpose was clear.

Though it howled and it bayed, Dragoi wouldn't bend.

"By my will alone, beast, you'll come to an end."

So roared the guardian, a man among men!

So stood the soldier,

He who refused to bend.

This painting is done in local style, though the artist seems to have been heavily influenced by something foreign. It depicts a one eyed man in the uniform of the Vallaki Garda doing battle with a white furred werewolf. The man brandishes a halberd, his posture protective, but his expression is one of resolution and nobility. The werewolf is depicted in savage motion, but its expression is one of pain and fear. The man stands alone before the gates of a city, the beast has a twisted forest at its back.
