[Municipality of Vallaki] A Moment of Remembrance

THE MUNICIPALITY OF VALLAKI HEREBY ANNOUNCES...

People of Vallaki and all those who depend upon her: know, and take solace in the fact that the head of the Pretender - the self-proclaimed 'Lord Regent' - Demetrius Ajkler now sits atop the walls of Castle Ravenloft. Know, and take comfort in the fact that this is the fate of all who would attempt to pervert, usurp and defy the righteous justice of the Sainted Mother. Know, however, that while this is auspicious news... that we do not celebrate this death. Instead, we wish to open and dedicate the upcoming funerals of Private Olga Osmochescu and Lance Corporal Anca to a general period of grieving, mourning and remembrance for all those who have tragically perished as a result of this devastating and senseless war.

The Pretender and his army of rebels, witches and outlanders in their unjust invasion have caused - directly and indirectly - the deaths of thousands of Barovians and Gundarakites alike. Many more who were lucky to flee with their lives now find themselves without security, homes or sustenance. The crushing reality is that while the traitors continue to raise their banners in rebellion - our people will continue to bleed and sacrifice so that we all might know peace once more.

We invite all those who have suffered to attend these funerals, held on the ninth of Mai, and offer a thoughtful moment to those who have fallen. The bells shall ring out one hour before we gather for the burials on the shores of Lake Zarovich, nearest the docks of Vallaki, and we hope to see you there.

Sombre church bells ring out all across Vallaki as the sun climbs into the sky, undoubtedly to announce the period of commiseration and the pair of funerals occurring soon. Signs by the gates declare it to be by the shore of Lake Zarovich, closest to Vallaki's docks.
