Barovia - Village of Barovia
« on: April 12, 2021, 11:08:46 PM »
[Two Outlander women are seen walking around the street, hauling pieces of clothing, pelts back and forth, spending their days talking and laughing, tailoring. They seem to give the vast amount of clothes they make to the local guard, the farmers and villagers they meet on the roads. The women are often seen in the streets of the village during the night, or the Temple and during the day hunting and skinning the local worgs]

[Late in the night the sound of things being thrown followed as well as the sounds of a woman's screams and yelling pierce the dull silence of the village, though short lived crazed laughter followed after before eventually fading into the night. The Villagers and guards that braved the next morning into the warehouse found various boxes and small items broken smashed against walls and in place, small scorch marks litter the floors and walls but not a single torch in the area]

Patrons of the Blood O' the Vine whisper and wonder at the horrible screams heard coming from one of the private rooms.  One woman is seen leaving, two stay for a few hours longer before departing and going their own way.

Banners of the notorious militant cult, the Brotherhood of the Whip, are planted soaked in blood upon the once consecrated altars of the vestibule, some even embedded into the lifeless husks of holy and good men.  Screams and cries of slain Lightcarriers and Barovian laborers caught in the crossfire fill the night past.  No other word can describe the carnage other than a sacking of the temple.

A few seem to have been left behind to tell the harrowing tale of fire and blood.

A cheerful lad is recently seen occasionally visiting the cemetary in the Village of Barovia, apparently paying his respects to the dead. He greets the Morninglord keepers and occasionally helps them with work around the temple and graveyard.

Small parchments surface around the temple to the Morninglord and near it.

Late at night, just before sundown, a rider approached and tacked a notice just outside the Blood o' the Vine where all could see.

Shortly after she entered the inn, the horse tied off outside. It didn't take long for old night to rear it's ugly head. Horrid screams errupted from the horse and soon after, the woman rider ran outside to aid the poor beast. What few witnesses were there would have seen dazling lights and a display of magic, not from the courier, but some unknown figure. It was enough to buy her time to get the poor horse to safety.

On the edges of the Village cutting into the thick swamps and forests of the far East of Barovia sounds of screaming and shouting could be heard during the night. As dawn comes near a woman with horns, red eyes and nature coloured attire could be seen running into the Western parts of the swamps. Those who investigate the area of the noises only find a deserted camp now hidden away in a small alcove.

In the early morning hours, a woman in dark Greenish armor is seen returning from the nearby Grove. Those investigating would discover various mass groupings of worgs and Lycanthropes slaughtered and placed together to be burned.

The bleak and shrouded Village sits at the center of the darkness that looms across the land. A place that truly knows no warmth or escape from the Devil itself. Full of suspicion and disgust for outsiders, those merchants traveling the infamous Old Svalich Road always need to pass through here for one reason or another and always report the same thing: they are not greeted with welcoming gazes.

This undeniable toll booth for the merchants never invites long-staying visitors, so it was suspicious to the Village's residents when they saw a wooden wagon descend the devil's descent and make its way towards the Sanctuary of Blessed Succor.

Three figures, adorned in the colors of the Morninglord, operated the cart, greeting the suspicious eyes, wishing them Dawn's Blessings as their cart disappeared into the fortress of a temple and remained there for the eve that fell.
