Werebats and Warding Gesture

I ran from Werebats today and twice used Warding Gesture: Shapechangers. There was no saving throw or effect, despite their close proximity.

I ran from Werebats today and twice used Warding Gesture: Shapechangers. There was no saving throw or effect, despite their close proximity.

Warding Gesture works if you are facing them only; if you were running from them, chances are you weren't facing their direction. It'd be worth testing when facing the werebat.
