Vallaki - Slums - Tigan's Rest
« on: February 13, 2007, 11:06:52 AM »
Amongst the regulars there seems to be an ongoing bet related to ex-regular Petre Chomski; "when is he going to get fired?" - patrons laugh, some less while alcohool pours merrily, some recalling some of Chomski's past Tavern stories...

A black clad youth has been slowly spreading that he hires out his skills as a salvager(//lockpicker and trap disabler) to adventurers... He tells them to ask for Lucian if they have need of his services..

::A young barovian woman strolls in. The mens gazes follow her as she approaches the bar and sits. She orders a drink, talking quietly with Zina. She is seen chuckling, a look of near pride on her features as she boasts about having information the guards are dying to have about the serial killer. She tells them how they refused to pay for her work, and intend on "summoning" her. She is seen downing the drink, then ordering another as her words are overheard "If they only knew what I did"::

The door blows open, and in with the billowing snow walks a slender woman clad in black, hood and scarf over her hair and features. But for the regulars, there's no mistaking that finely tailored jacket, gleaming emerald green eyes, or black silk gloves. The courtesan Madison O'Reilly has come to Tigans for a drink, or perhaps more. Anyone's guess. She seems in a sour mood, orders her drink, and retreats to a table alone, the cold stare daring anyone to approach her. Eventually though, a patron decides to take his chances, and wanders over, talking in a lowered tones.

"How much?" Some nearby hear him say.

Her response is too quiet to be heard, but it's clearly not what he wanted to hear as they argue a moment longer, and he backs away.

She then finishes her drink, and storms out the door in a rage. As the door slams, a patron is heard commenting to his companion,

"She's back, da."

[From the word of mouth, rumors spread from the seedy and scum amongst the Tigans patrons. Many speak of a 'cage fight' being hosted soon by the Vardo, and of a large sum of fang being given to the victor that can defeat a supposed champion that will contend in this fight against volunteers from the audience. Rumors spread like wild fire, sprouting up like nurtured seeds and spreading around the slums. 10,000 fangs rings out more clearly then anything else.]

Clients at Tigans comes in early, leaves early, or spends the night. No one, even the most alcohol filled sponge dare not step a toe outside, moreso than usual. Rumors of rats men and their troops of demons haunts the conversations of the poorer of Vallaki.

The city streets are restless as always, but even now the most salted outlanders fear the night and the rats.

Chaley waltzes into Tigans one night, and unceremoniously announces that she is no longer a working girl. Typical of the locals, most dont really care, even laugh, although the few who secretly took her up on business inwardly sigh. Most laugh, but for better or worse, she's gone in the next minute.

Locals are outraged that a Hero of Vallaki, Private Toskalov, a man who burned more witches in a couple weeks of duty than all of the Guarda in a year, is obviosly the victim of politics and underhanded dealings. Despite having been at Tagans at the time of the murders with dozens of witnesses this champion of Barovian values is to suffer for a crime against a reputed witch. Many wonder if the Burgomiester has lost his mind. Rumours spread that the Garda is now controlled by Nobles with devoius goals and decent Barovians are suffering for it.

1 ) Don't use an RP thread to promote Self-Grata RP.

4 ) If you post about a gossip, its just that a gossip and should be considered as such, try to post gossips from an objective point of view, not your character's, try to give a feel and see things from another perspective - try the Natives for example or different views - not always the favoring me, myself and I view.

Consider the rumor above null. DM's are the ones playing the reactions from the Barovian peasants, not the players. Something to keep in mind when posting rumors.

lol, so we can only write rumours making our pc's look bad ? Sometimes dms overlook obvious things because they are too focused on pushing through their own agenda's . It is not  Self-Grata RP to state obvious things that staff are overlooking. Sometimes both sides need representation in a story, not just the ones the dms favour.

Former Lance Draguta is seen spending each day from dusk to dawn in the tigans, she drinks nothing other than what the local patrons would call 'The Rough Stuff', often as dawn comes and the barmaids are almost done cleaning the last bits of grime off the table she dons her hood on and staggers over to the Morning Lord Rectory where she sleeps off the booz and returns some hours later to start the seemingly endless cycle all over again

Maggie help work the bar most nights, and notes the former Lance's behavior but doesn't comment or judge, simply continues to serve the drinks until the fangs stop appearing on the table. She might occasionally be seen helping the staggering woman walk to the shelter, but never actually enters the building.

Fewer people enter and leave this place these days. Some leave never to come back. Mean while the regulars continue to drown themselves in the watered down piss ale, speaking of the "grand ole days" while "fishin", and others speak of the much needed change.

Thanks DW!

A pale lady, with spectacles and often holding a book in her hands, has been seen rather regularly speaking with some other ladies about general philosophy, crafts, divinities and the Core. Her words seem wise as if she were teaching some life-style, more than simple notions -on which the more expert ear might find some flaw. She seems to be enjoying the mess of the inn, and she seems also to be able to keep her concentration in reading despite it. Occasionally she has been seen also trading some alchemical reagents.

A few people hear word of Cross Country race with rich prizes that may be happening soon. It is not for the faint of heart they say.

The reknowned Garda Draguta Bobboc is seen drinking heavily in the tavern, the older patrons who have not falterd in their drinking habbits of the stale tavern recall her former bender, some still rub their jaws absently as they see the scarred woman down tsuika after tsuika, ranting to herself in a slurred drunken manner. As the former time she lost her position as Lance Corporal among Vallaki's Finest, the older patrons recognize the old cycle returning. Come dawn she is seen staggering out of tavern, bouncing along the alleyways towards the Morning Lord Rectory. Often returning a few hours later after sleep to continue her bender, the amount of Alcohol being drunk, the lack of food and drink seems to be taking its toll. Her mood seems to be fouler than usual.

The former Captain of the Red Vardo Traders was seen entering Tigans through the back and then writing a hasty letter and pinning it to the trap door. She quickly left after that.

A letter is slipped under the basement door of Tigan's Rest.

Quote from: The Letter

TREDOW,

Millin de we walle theppen wallen apockin na weskin a de a marrow. Yellinen brackinnen tha tissle.

Which, of course, is written in the rather uneloquent Dalespeak language. It reads, "Meet me at the front of the place where you found me poisoned and unconscious some time back. We need to speak as soon as possible. "

One more stocky Barovian peasant, glum and scowling, can be seen drinking at night time in the disreputable establishment. Downing piss ale only and occasionally picking up fights with Zina Ungureanu, the inn's patron, about his tab, the man is not a pleasant sight (or smell).

He does ramble a lot when drunk though, laughs lewdly and speaks smugly of a time when "Outlander filth" shall be put to their "place".

A young Gundarakite man stormed into Tigan's, a common face in the backwater tavern, muttering to himself furiously in Luktar.  He spent the night drinking, until he passed out on the stairs leading up to the second floor.

The Barovian peasants scowled at a dark clad elf wearing a large, pointed hat who arrived late last night with a female companion, asking about a drunken woman who was there days ago escorted out by two Barovian men.  Little revealed to the fey, the Barovians wonder if they can ever drink in peace without freak outlanders bothering them.  Even worse the fey was one of those Ezra cultists.

Two knightly looking figures entered Tigans Rest and rented a room for the night. One was a man clad in grey, while the other was a woman in black. They kept to themselves and muttered to each other in their own foreign dialect before heading up to their room together.

The awful sounds of fighting and death issued from Tigans in the night, patrons slain by what was rumoured to be a full scale vrolock attack on an easy target group of drunks. The presence of a small band of Morning Lord cultists aiding RVT personnel in repelling the attack seems to lend water to this theory. In the morning, people were politely but firmly asked to leave until cleaning and damage was repaired...
