The Captain of the Boyar Guard has not been seen inside the Ladies Rest for many days now since he returned to the keep, rumours of an illness he caught having spent too much time with the outlanders is whispered.

Rumor has it that a Gundarakite man was chased down by militia men and outlanders at the western outskirts, and beaten until unconscious.

Reports of the incident vary however.

By some accounts, the man was merely a Gundarakite making a delivery of fish to the Lady’s Rest, and was mistaken as a rebel.  Those inclined to believe in this account also suspect that any Gundarakite will be labeled as a rebel, so long as the Vallaki militia continue to pay handsomely for each rebel head.

By other accounts, a group of Gundarakites, suspected rebels, clashed with the Red Vardo Traders at the Lady’s Rest; what this conflict was over though is anybody’s guess.  Those inclined to this account of the story, also claim that the Red Vardo delivered the same Gundarakite man, but mangled and severely beaten, hours later to the Citadel to receive their reward.

A public execution of this trouble maker is expected to take place soon.

Recently a moustached gentleman in neat clothing of a Mordentish cut has been seen lounging on the benches outside the Ladies Rest inn at all hours of the night. Absently twirling a Lily, he blithely ignores all warnings to get indoors.

A not so uncommon event occurs again at the lady. A young woman, by figure and voice as she remained always hooded, was seen talking with Jimmy, Saul, and Raphael. The woman went from being disorientated and upset to angry with Jimmy during her conversation; apparently some reference to "sweet-cheeks" and "a spit over a fire" were exchanged. After some bit of discussion at the large table the woman departed with Raphael and was last seen heading into the city with him. She never lowered her Hood that any other patron saw

After investigating reports of a disturbance upstairs in the Ladies Rest, a flamboyant elf, a hooded man and a viciously wounded individual were seen to proceed down from the stairs, leaving a room covered in blood behind. Rumours speak of a dead body but the staff claim to have seen no corpses dragged down, mentioning only the bloody mess left behind with no one to foot the bill for cleaning.

One outlander traveler to another:

"You know the lost sod that was beat by monkies!? Some barmie-cager came in afterward at about night time, just as pale as a mustie and unnatural red hair. The Beau-nasty got ful torqued when she went to the kip. Someone's getting boxed and they'll have to bribe the bellman to avoid the deadbook, heh. She'd hoped I'd tell as many as possible that whoever did it is counting the crow's mile from here on out 'cuz the wyrm's getting fed!"

"What?" the other outlander responded.

An Elven woman was attacked in her own room within the ladies rest, she fended off this attacker, as his hands tried to choke the life from her.  Luckily her cries where heard by patrons drinking downstairs, the elven woman stunned her attacker and locked him within her room. The would be assassin made his escape by smashing through the window and fleeing into the nearby woods.

The very same woman was brought into the temple hours later, once again another attempt had been made on her life.  A passer by saved her from the hands of the dark hooded figure, once again he avoided direct conflict, and fled into nearby woods.

Rumors, backed up by blood stains and scarred wood and eye witnesses, claim that calibans raided the Lady’s Rest just after sunrise yesterday.  Some say an outlander spotted two calibans sneaking through the back door, which was foolishly left wide open.  Others refute this claim though protesting that near a dozen of the filthy calibans stormed the kitchen.  A band of outlanders heroically charged right in after the calibans.  One of the calibans was slain by the outlanders, while another was bludgeoned by Radu’s hammer and eventually dragged off to the citadel.  Due to the heroics of some of the outlanders, some who paid dearly with their lives, the caliban raid failed.

What some find more distressing, is that while during the bloody ruthless melee with the two calibans, someone, or something, likely a witch, appeared and uttered strange words that spread confusion and panic among the outlander heroes.  The outlanders after slaying one caliban, then turned upon one another, hacking and slashing.  The witch vanished just as suddenly as “it” appeared.

Rumors speak of a guard abusing female prisoners. Rape, burning faces and cutting of tongues has been mentioned. Gossipers make sure the news spread like wildfire among both natives and outlanders. Bards sing of the particular guard's evil acts and how the rest of the citadel stands by allowing it to happen...

People whisper. All wonder what will happen next.

Will the rest of the guards make sure justice is served?

People are gathering...

It seemed the world was divided into good and bad people. The good ones slept better... while the bad ones seemed to enjoy the waking hours much more.

The Escape and Menace of Dr. Payne & His Monster

The monster of Dr. Payne continues to rampage to the west of Vallaki.  Some claim the beast stands as tall as a tree, and has been uprooting trees and using them to bash barns, bludgeon cows, and batter farm equipment.

Others refute such descriptions of the monster, and claim the Monster changes forms, disguising itself among common forest animals and barn yard critters.

Still others say none have laid eyes on the monster itself, and have only seen the menacing work left in its wake upon the western countryside.

Dr. Payne, the mad scientists who is responsible for the monsters’ creation, had been captured and was being held prisoner deep within the dungeons of Zeklos Keep until this past week.

Dr. Payne and His Monster are loose!

Two men--one of them a petite elf, the other, a towering human figure--were seen entering a room at the Lady's rest together with two incessantly giggling women, and a priestess of Ezra.  Shrieks, thumps and endless amounts of giggling and cackling were heard from the room, as well as talk about rope, iluskan curses and a stuttered question "When are you going to take advantage of me?"

All that's left as evidence is a set of bloody sheets, a half-chewed white petal and a puddle of vomit next to the table and the cushions in the corridor, outside the rooms.
Blacken and sin, accept and be swept

The well-known Lady Markova made a donation, as she is used to do.
Patrons of the Lady's rest saw her handing it over to a young foreigner Warden of the Ezra's Faith.
The Anchorite seemed to be slightly embarassed.
Nobody knows if he was embarassed because the Lady was the most beautiful he's ever seen orfor the large ammount of money she donated to the Church.
Furthermore,  someone heard she invited him to visit the Keep.
[...]
When the day came, he went to the Church for delivering the Lady Markova's donation to Toret Murgur, directly.

Hushed and alarmed, and mostly behind closed doors, talk of a man with numerous tattoos, one being a bird of sorts flying over water with a sun in the background has attempted to sell some kind of "body enchancer" to a guard in the Lady's Rest inn.

To many peoples relief it's also claimed that the guard refuted said "enhancers" and the seller then left the inn.

Travelling merchants and outlanders pause and scratch their heads at the graffiti, wondering why it has yet to be painted over.

//sorry if a dm has gone through this already, but none of the threads that mention it say anything about a clean-up. Given that a post about tearing down offending notes is usually up minutes after the original post, it seems a fair assumption that it's still there.

No where is guard Zeluf to be seen. The usual large figure of the guard is missing in the Lady's and around the outskirts. His loud voice is no where to be heard. Murmurs are that he left the Vallaki guard after being beat up for refusing to obey orders.

Those present in the ladies rest would of seen Corporal Vasham and a man in armour whose hood remained up, head upstairs. Those near the room would of heard raised voices before the two men emerged with the Corporall dragging the hooded man who was coverd in blood and clear dblade wounds, the man was thrown outside and the guard went back to his post within the inn

Mixed rumours are circulating that Lorea, a waitress at the ladies rest either has a great talent for singing or that she spouts bizzare nonesense words that sound most unusual... Both opinions seem to hold equal weight and support at this time.

Words of warning to all fey and elven kind.  Villagers in Vallaki have been attacking elves on sight.  In one story told, the limbs of an elf were torn apart with the use of ropes and horses.  Another account tells of a mob of villagers dragging a fey man through the village and to the western outskirts, where they proceed to lynch the fey from a tree while the guards on wall duty stood idly by.  It is even said that one of the villagers, when a priestess of Ezra attempted to intervene on the fey’s behalf, was beaten with a stick.

It is no surprise that the villagers have no love for the fey.  When some outlanders tried intervening on behalf of the lynched elf, the villagers accused the elf of having stolen their shadows.

Rumor has it that a man clad in full guard apparel stepped into the Lady’s Rest, at night time no less, and demanded at the top of his lungs that everyone stop what they’re doing and pay taxes in the name of the Count.  What brings some to laughter, is that what the so called guard hadn’t counted on, was that a real guard was within the tavern.  Once it became apparent that his plans had run amuck, he fled, having by some accounts used witchcraft to evade capture.

A week later, a guard at the outskirts approached what seemed to be an Anchorite of Ezra, dressed in the green robes with white trim, and when asked to remove his hood, the man simply fled, which leads some to suspect this may be the same man who posed as a guard the other night.

Not all is at is appears to be in Vallaki.  Mischief is at hand.

Gossip spreads about the Boxing match, the winners, the losers and attention is particularly given to the little Fey, Ai'na, defeating both a Giant and the Falkonovian "terror" Vladimir.
