I'm doubtful there is a way to do this but...

So the F1-F2-etc. keys are used for the quickbar buttons. Unfortunately the F-keys are useless for most players; one might as well point and click buttons visually on the quickbar rather than try to reach the outlying F-keys.

Is there any/any good software for reassigning the F-keys to more useful ones? Which is not to suggest PotM requires the speed of Call of Duty or anything, but whoa, would it be nice!

Depending on your hardware, you might be able to use the dedicated macro software for the keyboards (Razer, Corsair, etc).

If not, you can always use a software rebinder/hotkey editor... I think AutoHotkey would be sufficient for your usage. You'd need to figure out how to setup the AutoHotkey scripts but there is tons of info on that around the web.
