Grenouilles Croassent
The Frogs Croak

Yet another Second Day pulsates with the croak of unshackled truth. For your voyeuristic delight, readers, I’ve gathered only the choicest bits of gossip for your hungry gullets, with two tales of treachery. Forget those other papers, accept no imitators. The Grenouilles Croassent brings you the freshest, moistest gossip.

Slow News Month in the Ouvrier?

Many papers vie for your patronage, my devoted readers, none so willing to croak out truth as your beloved Grenouilles Croassent. Your humble Zherisian editor remains anonymous  for his own protection, but not so Maxime Silvain and Brigitte Mimieux, who risk all for le Lunaire’s mission to “provide you with the latest news from and about our neighborhood”. A monthly publication, le Lunaire may only provide a quarter of the stories of other broadsheets, but surely their ponderous pace produces papers of perfection. So was June’s issue focused on the recent food shortages? Letters from the Ouvrier? Tales from the Tenements? No! Instead, it launched an expose on local neighborhood girl, the late Raymonde Tremblay. News of this beloved Ouvrier icon is sure to fill the bellies of the starving tonight. Lucky for you, the Frogs Croak has hopped all about Lucine to dig up what dirty secrets Le Lunaire doesn’t want you to know, dear reader!

Our sources tell us le Lunaire’s anonymous confidante is none other than Alix Martineau, infamous traitor to the Republique. An intimate acquaintance of Raymonde Tremblay as we all know, Alix Martineau is the only person living with such vested interest into the Rochenoire-Tremblay union. Further, Martineau herself was the punished artist cited in Le Lunaire’s latest broadside. Martineau’s recent bounty for conspiracy was shocking indeed, but there’s no such thing as a conspiracy of one. How much were Maxime and Brigitte paid to swallow the lies of the traitor Sargent? Do the abandoned citizens of the Ouvrier care about the marriages of spoiled gentry folk? Will there be repercussions for Le Lunaire serving as the mouthpiece of a conspiracy rather than advocating for our most vulnerable citizens? Time will tell!

Appetites of Alix Martineau

The disgraced Alix Martineau’s appetites were not singular to exotic Souragnean women, Grenouilles Croassent has learned. Our sources tell us Martineau had several encounters with Claude, Queen of the Pirate and criminal at large. It seems none of these encounters resulted in an arrest. During the same period, she enthusiastically entertained Jean-Claude of the Rochenoires frequently in her bed, and was known to make herself available to many foreign visitors to Port a Lucine, men and women both. The latest gossip tells us that she developed a taste for married Tremblays, with Vencelas Tremblay being invited frequently into her room at the Governor, at least until she fled the city.

As Raymonde Tremblay’s body cooled, Alix Martineau looked to the brother to keep her warm. Perhaps unable to satisfy her craving for noble meat with this would-be assignation, Martineau was forced to abandon her attempts to scandalize yet another marriage. Having taken to the waves aboard her very own ship, Alix Martineau may have run out of variety. A good thing she’s expressed a taste for seafood.

Can you help Maxime and Brigitte find a story worth their readers' time? 9 in all!
