Game lags very badly and runs at 10 fps when I die

Whenever i die and go into the death plane where you need to walk to the light beam to respawn the entire area runs at 10 fps

Can confirm this happens to me as well though not every time.  One time it persisted even after respawning in any area I entered.  Re-logging fixes it.
