A strange sight was noticed when Father Dumitru, usually quiet and dressed in dark clothes, was seen inviting people and reading a reflection on the Morninglord while wearing an old rosy dawn robe.

A few tales have been told of a half-naked, masked man suddenly appearing in the crypts in times of peril. Calling himself Bunny, he has launched himself into the thick of the undead, always attempting to destroy the filth using just his body.

Who IS this masked man?

During recent early morning hours Light Carrier Lauel was seen giving a short sermon on enduring one's trials through the darkest of nights, encouraged by Mother Lizuca.

A strange outlander dressed in the robes of a Dawnbringer arrived at the sanctuary. His face was riddled with scars from countless years of combat. He came seeking his kin, having return from parts unknown to confess his grief in hopes to one day return to spread the Dawnfather's message of hope to Vallaki. No one knows where he came from, but after talking for some hours with a fellow member of the church, he was seen leaving with a serine and uplifted smile of hope for the future.

Again rumors of strange events occurring in the lower crypts circulates amongst those who frequent such locales. It's marked by an increase in frequency of undead and a magnitude in their strength. Could this be mere coincidence?

Rumors spread that late one evening, a young woman barged into sanctuary, battered and exhausted. She was the captive that the bandits were to kill as ransom to the Garda. She barely escaped with her life, but she escaped with valuable information about the bandits. She said she was captive for almost two full days. She collapsed from exhaustion shortly after her escape

Rumors of a late night attack n the crypt reach the surface. A ightcarrier is suspect, vanishing into the darkness when confronted. The evidence points to the return of the Lord of Lies.

An argument of some kind nearly tipped over into physical conflict in the morninglord temple this evening as Two women attempted to stop a third from leaving the temple. The woman whose exit was blocked is reported to have some form of skin condition causing a reddening of the skin, the other two were a follower of lathander and an unknown brunette. Conflict was averted when the ill woman fled down into the crypts.

An argument between Chira, the fire demon and Miou the hin witch merchant occured in the late hours of yesterday evening. The argument appeared to revolve around the morality of Miou selling items of a dark or necromantic nature.

Prior to the close off of Vallaki and Barovia it's inhabitants at the Morning Lord's temple were treated to various wares not to be sold but donated at the left platform for those who are new to the mist. Along with food, bows, boots of various fur, coats, and capes, donations of gems were also lay before the main priestess of the temple to help the church thrive and continue during it's harsh times. All who stay there would not that it was the Woodsman who was dropping these things off and when asked he but only smiled and continue wood working outside the temple before the following days of his disappearance.

[Hushed and fearful rumors begin to spread throughout the western outskirts of young women being found drained of blood with obvious signs of vampiric feeding.  What is of particular note is that both victims that survived these attacks—and those who didn't—are found left in a restful position with their hands folded over their bellies, and, held under their hands, is a red rose.]

Word begins to spread, first in hushed whispers, then in joyful elation: The nightmare of days long past, the Heart Taker, Ganbaatar, Champion of the Neureni, has been destroyed.  Outlanders and Barovians alike sleep a little sounder with his destruction.

But some pessimists wonder. . .can you truly destroy the horrors of the past?

A dark figure has taken up residence in one corner of the church. It sits, swathed in a dark cloak, hood and veil... watching. When adventurers return from the depths with tales of comrades fallen, the figure rises, steps down into the depths and returns with whatever remains may be found.

An agitation seems to be afoot beneath the temple. Sightings of giant ghost spiders, monstrous webs and earth tremors have been reported.

As dusk descended on the Gray City, two figures fled into the sanctuary at a pace that hardly seemed humanly possible--as though they knew a fearful fiend did close behind them tread. Inside, one of the two produced a stash of diamonds worthy of a prince...and a body.

Sometime later the two passed with a third--who appeared to have suffered some gruesome ordeal--into the inn.

Little could be discerned from the many dire mutterings that murmured throughout the long night from below the inn's serving area. Perhaps it is typical Barovian exaggeration of Old Noapte's fears, but one rumour in particular has caused the most local terror: that the third man described an entire murder of fell undead roaming the Count's realm and--one by one-- isolating and slaying any who might have the strength to oppose them.

A woman, Rhoslyn Sol, is seen being carried within a green-hooded-and-cloaked man's arms. After a word with the priestess, he sees to her hopeful return, and leaves a letter requesting she only need to contact a "R.K." at the Lady's Rest, if she need an explanation for her death.

Strange occurrences have been noted beneath the temple recently. A man hooded and cloaked all in black has been spotted performing rituals on the second floor. His intentions can not be wholesome.

A new threat has taken residence in the lower crypts beneath the temple. A necromancer calling himself the Crypt-King has claimed dominion over the ancient halls and tombs. He stalks the tunnels and forgotten passages looking for something....

Whomever the recent villain was calling himself the "Crypt-King", he is no more. Vanquished by noble heroes this necromancer's purpose, whatever it was has ended. The dead seem restful, if only for a brief night.

[As the long Barovian night gives way to the coming dawn, light would fall upon a proclamation nailed to the sanctuary's door.]

HERE BE A DEN OF SIN!

YE OF GOODLY AND LAWFUL TEMPERMENT, BEWARE! THIS RECTORY BE NOT WHAT IT CLAIMS! LIES, HERESY, AND DECEIT ARE ALL THAT SHALL BE FOUND HERE! ALLOW YOURSELF NOT TO BE TRAPPED BY THEIR UN-TRUTHS! FLEE! AS FAST AS THEY FEET MAY CARRY YOU, FLEE THIS DISMAL PLACE AND SEEK TRUE SALVATION!

This night, Coporal Rodica Stolojan, gravely wounded with a hollow look in her eyes, entered the Sanctuary. Almost as if compelled, she uttered these words to Lizuca, witnessed by the various folk taking shelter in the church at night.

"If the Morninglordian priests do not melt down their idols and leave them as offerings to the Rittmeister, more guards will die. If they do, I will be lenient."

The wounded Corporal then seemed to snap out of her daze, only then seeming to realize where she was and what she was doing.

When the first glows of dawn appeared on the outskirts of the town of Vallaki, an armored man, moving hastily, walked out of the southern forests. He was carrying a severely wounded woman, barely alive, wrapped in improvised bandages. He carried her inside and placed her on the ground in front of the priestess, collapsing nearby afterwards; nearly animalish, continuous growl and moan escaped his lips as he did so. After a long moment, unresponsive to any words spoken to him, he crawled to the nearest wall and leaned on it, conscious, but unaware of his surroundings. His eyes were clearly insane.
A long, long moment passes; his shaking hands reached to the belt pouch to take out a self-made cigarette. After a great struggle he managed to light it - a thin smoke escaped his lips when he took a first drag.

Despite the typically Outlander-phobic gossip emanating from the Citadel, many supplicants in a crowded sanctuary would have witnessed less indifference to the fate of the city's garda than such rumors imply. An unusually homely Elf (who declined to involve himself in the melee) nevertheless prevented the further mutilation of the fallen corporal's body by carrying her into the temple and paying the Morninglord priests a large sum of gold to see whether her soul yet remained.

He then stood by for several hours in hopes her life would return and to ensure against other attempts to ferret her away.

A female Caliban whom he thwarted, in fact, received violence for her efforts, being punched hard in the face--though not by the Elf--until she collapsed in the temple's doorway and had to be revived herself. Thereafter the Elf departed into the night, leaving the stricken corporal to the care of the man who had taken down the Caliban.

Gathered in the old sanctuary, A sermon took place followed by a ceremony. A celebration, as a young woman shed her white robes in the light of a new dawn. An oath that echoed throughout the old walls as they heard her name: Kaliara Verafall

And it was on this dawn, that a new Dawnbringer was born.

[Afflicted townsfolk shuffle into the Sanctuary of the Coming Dawn in droves. Viscous mucus trailed in rivulets from their orifices as they shuffled and hobbled to the perimeter of the temple's interior.  Their strength depleted, they collapsed into writhing heaps upon the cold, stone floor.  The malodorous stench of plague accompanied them; a putrid, acrid aroma that wrinkled the nostrils of those that would venture too close.

A cacophony of coughing, retching, and guttural moans filled the interior of the sanctuary;  the clergy working with fervor, sweating beading and dripping from their brows as they sought to render aid and solace to the diseased.]
