An Assassin's Lament
Across the rooftops I did creep,
Beneath where the city did sleep.
Veil aside, through window I sneak!
A door opened, slowly it creaks!
Into the room I quietly slip,
Dagger drawn, I prowl for my prey.
Stealing inward, I almost trip.
A doll below, to my dismay!

Ignoring my reservation,
Tonight there is no Salvation!
Pushing a door aside, I prowl,
My grim features hidden by cowl.
Asleep in bed, there lays my mark.
Silently, I move to the bed.
I plunge the knife with no remark!
Softly my hand solemnly muffles his cries!
*\,/'\,/'\,/'\,/'\,/*
A squeak breaks the silence, behind!
Turning, I see a silhouette.
Shaking, she held the doll and whined,
Blood spread on the bed, such regret!
I leap past her, sobs fill my ear.
Out the window, a dark night clear.
The last I hear are the girls tears!
“He will pay”, I mutter, sincere.
Taking to streets, my hunt renewed!

Onto the grounds I slip,
Elusive, I avoid the guards.
One guard I give my dagger's tip,
Advancing quickly through the yard.
Climbing, I scale the house's wall,
Following torches, I find him.
The door protests, and I enter.
He sits with goblet filled to brim.
“It is done then?” He asks, sipping.

“You lied, he did not deserve it!”
The other pondered, "He wronged me...
“Your payment is here, come and sit.”
“One matter left, try not to flee.”
The goblet flew across the room!
The merchant quickly drew his sword.
I slashed, “Tonight I am your doom!”
Blades struck loudly as if a chord.
Blood flew wide and the two collapsed...
