Cloak Animations Bugged
« on: November 12, 2019, 01:14:23 AM »
Account: Ogre Time Yay
Characters: All of them, but the one in the images is Heltr

For some time now, I've been experiencing a bug with -all- of my characters, with cloaks. I can see the cloaks of other players animating properly, and others can see my cloak glitching out. It remains stiff, no animations, but when my character does certain movements, the cloak twists and contorts into weird positions and freezes like that.

Look at this...

Look...

Look what this cloak did to my baby boy...

plz halp

Are you using custom model, appearance or animation overrides from another server?

If other people can see it... wow. Pretty unique.

It's an old thing. Usually happens to Dwarves, Orcs and Gnomes - as far as I've seen. Just un-equip and re-equip the cloak and it fixes itself.

I removed all mods not being used for PotM, uninstalled the game, reinstalled it, and verified the files, but sadly the problem is still occurring.

That didn't fix it, I tried that a few times and it still remains bugged. My cloak is also bugged on my human characters as well.

I tossed ideas back and forward with a DM about what might be causing this bug. No fix has been found yet, but we were able to narrow it down to being indeed a bug that occurs exclusively for Dwarves, where the cloak remains constantly without animations, then twists and contorts when the Dwarven character model does certain actions, like casting a spell or sitting down.

Have you tried using the fur shortcloaks or the one-shoulder cloak?

Yeah, those ones appear to have the same problem as well.

That's really strange. Didn't even think the fur shortcloaks animated.

They might not have. The cloak I'm using is a the wide one with the hood on it, but I have tried a few other cloaks that weren't fur cloaks. They all are still having the same issue where they have no animations and get frozen in strange positions.

I experimented on this a little more this past weekend. I can confirm that I saw this issue happening on other Dwarf characters wearing a cloak (from other players), but it also happens on other races that are Phenotype 2. I'm beginning to think that this is less of a PotM bug, and more of a deep-rooted NWN quirk, as the cloaks seem to be built for a specific type of character model. I'm thinking it might be time to retire that old cloak before I accidentally poke someone's eye out with it, at least the one my Dwarf is wearing.

Stiff and Glitchy Cloaks on Gnomes
« Reply #11 on: September 03, 2022, 08:02:37 AM »
There is a fairly annoying bug with Cloaks on Gnomes (Male, at least) where the flowing cloaks are completly stiff and sometimes happen to glitch, staying stuck in a half deformed state due to some animations, such as casting or emotes.

This seems to be a strictly Server specific issue, as it isn't present in various modules using CEP or even the base game. Not sure what is the cause of it.

All races in my experience. But more frequent in the shorter ones

Never had that issue on either my Halfling or Human PCs, and it's my first time rolling a Gnome. I had seen plenty of Dwarves, though.

Stiff dwarf cloaks
« Reply #16 on: October 02, 2023, 09:22:48 PM »
Where: Everywhere a dwarf is that is wearing a cloak.

When: After resting and when standing up as a dwarf wearing a cloak.

What: Dwarves in cloaks seem to be very stiff, where other races have cloaks that billow in the wind when they run, dwarven cloaks seem to be made of wood.

Recreate: Put any long cloak on a dwarf and move around to witness how stiff it is.

Ideas: No ideas on how to fix it unfortunately.

This is also an issue for Gnomes, strangely enough. Haven't looked into NwN animations and rigging, but chances are the issue is in the Dwarf and Gnome rigs.
