Prayers of dominion;
Quote
Elliya Lolthu. All powerful and all-ruling goddess, you have sought to test your servant in ways none have ever walked nor predicted. Your will is my will, my efforts dedicated to appeasing you, eternally. My loyalty is without question. My strength will grow under your influence. All my successes are invoked under your name.

You demand for me to rise, to pass your first trial of Mettle, and I so did, each loyal arachnid remained untouched, and I suffered slow to appease you. You test me, to perfect me. Your new trial to push me to the surface alone is unusual, but accepted with my heart. No, this is not exile, for I have never wronged you. There are none like me here on this land and you surround me with our enemies.

Nothing changes. L'elamshin d'lil ilythiiri zhah ulu har'luth jal.

The reclamation of the path;
Quote
Barovia - Southern Forest cavity
This hole in the rock not far off the road south yields little of value. Observed old rusted doors built into the wall, speaking to me of surfacers using this place as a dump. Signs of banditry or raiders but empty when scouted, what a pity. Pools of still water on one edge of the cavern, not deep. No further entrances marked. A waste of time though a quiet place to rest.

Under Her watchful gaze;
Quote
Hissing-elf, Kymil
Sithican male darthiir, makes foul magical noises calling himself 'deathsinger', but may be willing to accept Her venom into his veins. In time. Acts as my property but refuses accept as such. His life is spared for he retains his usefulness for now.
Quote
Bow-elf, Oriana
Female darthiir whom seeks my favour and provides equipment. Unclear why. Suspect she desires my complacency so that her knife might slip under my ribs. Cautious with this one, for betrayal will be forthcoming, and she may be better suited as sacrifice once alienated from her other lover elf.
Quote
Axe-human, Kerdic
Male rivvil, also a lesser seeking my good graces by supplying provisions. Jala cahallin xal tlu elg'cahlin. Do not believe his lies; another that believes my complacency will afford him an opportunity to slay me, despite his assurances his attack would come from the front.

Prayers of dominion;
Quote
Mother of Lusts, I crawl under your silken gossamer and pierce through onto the surface by your will, only to be greeted with burning light and the several dozen ignorant rivvil and darthirii that dare insult your dominion. I am undeterred. The day cycle is always caught in the silky cress d'isto, an opportunity in darkness to perform your intent before she is freed once more to partake in the pleasure of hunt and strife.

Zud'dar dosst yathrin harl myar'a anulon. I deliver your silent name with my mace onto necromantic bone and rotting flesh beneath a broken and pitiful temple dedicated to an infirm deity, and though it is regrettable it is not host to your true enemies, I am encouraged to bleed for you, to become stronger, to fortify my house and your church.

The reclamation of the path;
Quote
Morninglord burial chambers
The crypts and chasms under that wretched and broken church possesses a source unyielding necromancy, no doubt in the dirt and behind the walls. It has proved entertaining for a time, for there rises armoured skeletons to bash and break apart. Knights they call them, that open fresh wounds with potent and cruel rusted blades, and stirs my blood. Yet I now grow bored as these mindless dead become meritless; they will not serve Her nor my will. I have explored all paths below, none surrender the path of return to the Underdark and return with a raid of ilythiiri. It is time to look elsewhere.

Under Her watchful gaze;
Quote
Hissing-elf, Kymil
The hissing-elf Kymil male continues to make himself practical, yet believes his life is guaranteed, his freedom taken for granted. My goodwill shall be extended only so far, but for now, it persists. A closer eye is to be kept upon him, for his potency grows and if left uncontested will swell more disagreeable intentions.
Quote
Jhalass
A merchant guild, 'Red Vardo', brought to my attention Jhalass, a former kin, her equipment was made available for exchange. As yathrin to Lolth, such weapons and armour belong to Her church and thus should rightfully be mine. Yet upon review, it is no wonder she is dead; her armour and whip are barely magical and worthless. There is no room for sentimentality and weakness. Sooner they are forgotten as she will be.

Prayers of dominion;
Quote
Flesh Carver, Weaver of Webs, your indelible dominion over all is unquestioned by I, your faithful daughter. You give me the gift of continued life and opportunity in your embrace to execute your will, of which all victories are your doing, all pain and pleasure rightfully yours and whispered to me, even if no words are spoken. The silence and solitary path on this surface a trial of which I will conquer under your icon and proof of your goodwill is heard through the potency of your blessings.

Usstan lodtyn ulnen lu'elg'cahl ussta vlos harl isto anulon. It is the spider's true nature. Patience. Continue to perform the rites and observe the lessers move about their meagre lives. Each single one has a destiny, to be embraced by venom and spun into eventual consumption. Yet the anger in my blood simmers as the insufferable wretches of Corellon remain insolent to the presence I represent as Yathrin. A promise of their screaming, clawing under my fingers, seeped in blood. Though excitable, it threatens the agenda.

The reclamation of the path;
Quote
Rivvin-town border cave
Another eventless and brief exploration of a tunnel that leads nowhere and yields naught, save traps made by nuisance little gol creatures. Towards the back lifts a intentional formation of rock that barely caught my interest, as to speak of usage from past inhabitants more intelligent than these rodents. No symbolism of Lolth found on the dirt or rock.
Quote
Rivvin-town sewer hovels
The stench of this filthy residence home refugees of the human populace above. It is no wonder they cower in his hole, each of them without rank or power of their own. They would serve better as slaves than waste their meaningless lives fighting for scraps of rat-food. Surprisingly enough basic offerings are maintained here - a man promising to keep my coin 'safe', a drink-bar, enterprising goblins in the back rooms. And a dhaerow male of no house, no favour. Pitiful near to the point of comedy. Yet the occasional useful individual strays down here that might yield a fateful opportunity.

Under Her watchful gaze;
Quote
Bow-elf, Oriana
The darthiir teases and taunts my patience but eases the persistent boredom. Fortunate for her that she holds no allegiences to prancing fool Corellon. Unclear on what my intentions will ultimately be with this one. But I have a compelling idea.
Quote
Peddler-rivvil, Conner
Odd-looking male human that sells mundane and minor trinkets. Possesses some sensitivities to interactions and prone to sulking akin to the hissing-elf. Mildly entertaining upon one evening to observe his assassination, but bothersome to find another fool to sell these foul-smelling herbs to. Some cycles later, again witnessed him lingering in the borders of the rivvin-town Vallaki. I remain curious to the supposed failure of the assassination.
Quote
Vardo-merchants, Lieutenant Orsolya, her servants
A resourceful female human applies herself more actively than the rest of her ilk. Undoubtedly, she has some rank as not only as evidenced by her title, but by two males trailing her person and heeding her command. Initial suspicions made that she walks outside her station, but I suspect has further, unseen backing. Lolth teaches caution through experience, to watch for threats from both ahead and behind, above and below. Though this one of course remains a lesser, neutrality is called for.

Prayers of dominion;
Quote
Du'ased Valsharess d'Orbben, my head is bowed in prayer, my body supplicating, my spirit bewitched, a scion to your majesty. Heed my offering of crimson blood and unwavering strength against your perfect trials and adversity upon this surface world. In my bleak heart I crave the greatest reward that can be earned in this life – your attention. Peer upon the victories I have wrought under your name: A lifeless elf splayed under your image. Rivvin and Darthirii tempted by your beauty. Surfacer lives young and old, weak and strong, all contest you, all silenced forever by your decree.

I recognise that all are weak under your web, including I. Yet the power of your dark blessings no longer forbidden between my fingers, proving that your favour of me grows, as will your presence on this land. House Rilyn’ae takes cautious steps forward and no dissent, no sacrilege, no disobedience shall you suffer. In time, Barovia shall know and fear you.

The reclamation of the path;
Quote
Rivvin-Lucine-city sewer tunnels
Another muck-filled maze of tunnels beneath a city of humans, filled with aberrant insects, rats, and depraved banditry. A worthy effort to slay these vile bugs, but the rest bore me as does the requirement to once again cleanse the strench of filth off my armour. A market of trinkets and services exist down here as well, but no corridors lead deeper. Another fruitless locale in the pursuit of our great host.

Under Her watchful gaze;
Quote
Worg-elf, Th’rar
The darthiir wael has brought upon himself revered scrutiny. Or’Tel’Quessir filth. His addled mind has been forsaken for his brutish strength, for it now grants him the arrogance and confidence to contest my will, HER will. Steps are in motion to resolve this incident.
Quote
Axe-orc, dragon-tribe Wrak
A brainless tool, however capable to recognize basic orders and useful to crush the infestation under the city sewer complex. The large monster bleeds freely in equal amounts as his nonsensical eating of his own equipment and grunting about lizards alongside pleading about rituals as if I was his dragon-wench shaman.
Quote
Sewer-rivvil, Muriel
A human with clear ambitions and offers services unproven, yet is inexperienced in doing so. I have determined he reveals less than he knows, bothersome indeed, for he is naturally obliged to offer more should my esteem be granted. Given the difficulty of my prior conversation, I remain sceptical.

Prayers of dominion;
Quote
The passage of time fails to dissuade me from what I know is true. The truth that even without your whispers in my ears, your merciless guidance persists in my mind forevermore. I persevere as the nauseating surface world continues to provoke my patience, yet with the struggles and victories pledged to you, the potency of your will and favour is reflected in the terror of your enemies. Their cries are a symphony when my blade swims with sanguine, and with every sharp cut my mind hones and pierces through the daylight, all becoming clearer that your demand for dominion is unabated.

I am tested by my thoughts, my vision, for I cannot see if they would please you. There is a great foolishness prevalent in your young children, Dark Mother. We are weak before you, yet we may better serve you, fight and die for you than before. This surface is without the merit of our great host, so it comes to be known that we must be wiser and stronger; we can ill afford to echo the childish antics of the great cities. Dosst dalharen z'klaen nezdous. I will shed blood for you to earn your answers and ascend.

The reclamation of the path;
Quote
Hazlani-wood caves
We travel deeply into the cursed forests of Hazlan, accompanied by useful rivvin. They lead us to a cavern with two levels into the rock, inhabited by warrior dead. Admittedly their skills are to be wary of – their blades pierce through my armour easily. There is no doubt that the risk of death stirs excitement, but this is another path that yields not to our great cites. The search continues.

Under Her watchful gaze;
Quote
Kin, Nathrayne of House Oussek
An interesting one, pleasing and wise enough to recognise my role as Yathrin and the respect it deserves. However, there are nuances that betray an aspect that raises several questions, revealing perhaps more than she will ever explicitly let on or admit to, naturally. It leaves me with concerns to her fidelity, yet I cannot be certain. One to watch further.
Quote
Dragonling Bes’lyth Dwin'arnith
The lizard-elf maintains Lolth’s respect due to her strength of will and flesh, yet easily breaks my patience. An example has been made following punishment of another hissing-elf. I expect she will test her boundaries furthermore despite it, and the results shall be the same. When dosed with quantities of ale or wine, becomes unpredictable foolishly aggressive. Supposedly dying as her filthy blood transforms her further.
Quote
Kin, traitor
I watched this one for a time, unseen. She desires order, speaks of friends, her ssinssrig. Her utterances reveal much. And it disgusts me to know one might stray so far so quickly. The Quarvalsharess must call for her throat.

Prayers of dominion;
Quote
My thoughts cannot be concealed from you, great Weaver of Destiny, nor would I dare to try. You know it to be true; I shall offer no cause for you to doubt my loyalty. My envenomed blood trickles from my veins, my pain drawn out to receive your favour and the anguish of our enemies to delight you. My work continues under your name as it always will for as long as you deem my life worthy to persist. I now ask for further trials, to demonstrate the strength of my convictions and my power. Expanding your glistening dark web ever so gradually, deliberately, pledging the victories to you is my most resolute desire.

I prayed that the sacrifice of the moon darthiir found you pleasure, Dark Mother. It would have saddened the moon-bitch Mystic Seer Sehanine to see her precious child’s heart torn free. The elf’s struggles and cries upon the altar brought amusement to your children too, a reminder that they might share her fate should they fail to uphold your demands. I would see to it, should you command it. I am renewed that you saw fit to demonstrate your presence at that time, and again as you saw fit a second time after the gift of pain and pleasure my hissing-elf slave offered. But I am weak; I hesitated. I was beholden with fear when your power slipped into my flesh and now tests my will. But I do not regret nor becloud my mind. More ceremonies to you will be enacted. Ulu sila dosst elg'cahl wund l'ul'peyr d'l'yor'in.

Under Her watchful gaze;
Quote
Kin, Nathrae of House Jhalavar
This one reflects Lolth’s sweet and vicious cruelty and chaos, perhaps even mindlessly so. Yet she can be tempered by my honeyed words and placated by the gifts I bestow upon her to retain her compliance to me. I however admit it not to be weakness, for all of us are so easily swayed by the desire to fulfil our various appetites. Her efforts as my handmaiden are at times respectable and one of the first to understand the new ‘rules’ of this World Above, though her pursuit to intoxicate her blood with the foul swill crafted by rivvil and wander off for days or weeks at a time make her unreliable at best. A shame.
Quote
Distant kin, Xen’varra
I have been given an opportunity to follow a vast silk thread, stretching to some distant surface land where Xen’varra claims to dwell. It is an intriguing thought to recognize this one’s experiences under the hidden aliases and visages Lolth might use, for She weaves illusions and deceptions upon Her great web. But there are many questions still to be answered as part of my Trial and my role as Yathrin; for why our Queen of Spiders encompasses the land itself, and why She has not demanded the same ruthless infighting and compliance of the ‘Sulatar’? Their old foes, giants, magic. It must have a part to play. I will keep my attention upon this one - perhaps out of curiosity in the newfound trust she places in me, or what deceit she has cultivated.
Quote
Half-breed Vestylaeth’Llar
The only thing this half-breed rivvil-dhaerow mix has for him is that he understands his place and serves with obedience and without question. The creature would bring shame to any other house owning him in our grand cities, but here I am, here we are. Putting up with it. I may as well find more use out of him before eventually expending him in some minor agenda or rite. Still, I cannot afford to toss him away unless better options become available. Is he worth the investment, I wonder?
Quote
Sky-elf Mimne
Another of Sehanine’s children. Insolence and disrespect earned the great Mother of Lusts’ symbol carved on her pale flesh so easily and her cries were like music; a sweet sound. She understood her place for a time but ultimately, even after the mercy I demonstrated, the fool could not learn from her experiences. She gave her heart upon the altar and brought our new house and collective great favour. It is unfortunate that I did not have her strung up on a wall earlier.
Quote
Hissing-elf Qillathe
How eager to please this gentle darthiir-sithican creature is. Once without reason to live and purpose to fulfil, simple it was to demonstrate the beauty that is Lolth and the superiority of her children. And from it, an unquenchable yearning swollen in her mind and flesh to serve in any and all of my requests; there is no lash, no cut, no poison convulsion she would refuse if given only a hope to my pleasure. Reflected through my own grand ambitions does her own whispers ask for the Flesh Carver’s attention, and admittedly shows some promise. She will receive it if she survives the envenoming of her blood. Either way, it will be amusing to witness.
Quote
Sakphul Sorry
A halfling of all stunted creatures has volunteered herself as some sort of associate to Nathrae, following in her shadowed footsteps. I do not quite understand why none of us have bothered to enslave this one. It is truly a mystery. Regardless, she has her use particularly in raiding rivvil hovels to click locks, pluck traps, slash hamstrings – if I might on the best evenings tolerate the unnecessary riddles in her words. This one’s agenda is yet to be completely understood despite several tests to feign openings for my assassination – no action was taken yet I remain unconvinced, for she will likely to slip a dagger between my ribs should it suit her agenda. Whether I strike first will depend on if she delivers the corruption of the darthiir, The First’s ‘favoured’.

Prayers of dominion;
Quote
All-powerful Lolth, true mother to your dhaerow children, your countenance forever remains indiscernible and indeterminate. Dosst sansissya lu'vhid 'udtila naut xuz. Yet I continue to discern the Trials you have put before me as your loyal and enduring priestess. I have understood that I am nothing but weak to your majesty, and only ask that you permit me the opportunity to continue to prove my worth to you, in the face of the many traitors that insult us both. The major rites we perform in your visage are but only to please you, Dark Mother. The lessers whom I have been deemed to be embraced shall rise in strength and potency, the souls willingly entangled or devoured on your vast web by your sole pleasure.

It is with reluctance do I admit my failure to understand your dispassion in those who laugh upon your name and whose weak minds are lead astray with promises of purposeless liberty, even after my mercies and offerings of mediation as wisdom has decreed for this World Above. No guidance have you offered if I should seek to silence them or return them forcefully under your dominion. However it is clear that my arrogance in which to predict you has earned my foolishness and confusion, for you are but chaos. I know the restlessness of my reverie is but weakness and so I will ensure the hearts you seek thus to be sought elsewhere and provided under my unrelenting faith. Lolth tlu malla.

Under Her watchful gaze;
Quote
Half-breed Crest
Another half-breed male, marauder Crinti ancestry of all things, that serves his rightful place under the Flesh Carver. This one’s flesh and blood tolerates heightened pain better than most, perhaps earning him some of my respect after demonstrating the fortitude necessary during the envenoming ceremony for my work. However, his chasing towards the traitor without my leave does raise questions. His truth is to be ascertained before my judgement is concluded.
Quote
Hissing-elf, Kymil
Despite the liberties afforded to this sithican male for his assistance in my ambitions and the mercies offered it was only a matter of time before his ongoing insolence and disrespect had him leave. It seems even my promise to deliver his own people from some pitiful dwarf was naught a consideration when fear took hold of his failing heart. Not noble after all. How much he now utters to compromise mine and Her will shall determine if he lives or dies, despite the rivvil Teram desiring otherwise.
Quote
Kin, Rauva of House Xiltyn
The Weaver of Destiny has seen fit to send a Yath'abban, an initiate into our collective. All times must she be watched for signs of betrayal and deceit; for she has yet to learn my full vision for our kin and the extension of Her web, silently and deliberately. It is required of me as Yathrin to tutor this one in the means of torture, prayer, investigate failures of loyalty, and personal worship. Should the Dark Mother desire her to replace me, then it shall be. Until then, I will tolerate not the childish antics that our grand cities are afforded in their acuity. However, given what I have seen so far, I am pleased. Perhaps a reasonable replacement to the absent Nathrae as my handmaiden.
Quote
Kin, Nathrayne of House Oussek
Truth has evolved from firm suspicion, risen amongst traitorous dark clay with surface soil woven among falsehoods and lies. My mercies, my offerings, well-wishes insulted from the very beginning. A weakening mind has betrayed her calling and instead laid a route of insignificance with Lolth’s middling daughter. Amongst my anger and disgust upon those who willingly defy the gifts they have been so fortunate to receive, it troubles me still for the choices I must make to set her fate, and I cannot dare imagine why. Perhaps after some attendance from either my darthiir or a competent male might render some clarity in my mind.

Prayers of dominion;
Quote
Queen of Spiders and Supreme Matriarch, you who mesmerise your gifts unto me of greatest cunning and ambition, undiluted life and wisdom, I accept your favour with all the strength of my mind and body. I grow your dominion with the same steady persistance as I have always done and know fully how great foes falling to your venom or your obedience pleases you, Dark Mother. Ussta olath ivress kielen hoills phor blynol terini'nestg vesdrac. The recent offering of a Tel'Quessir sunlit heart, devoured fully by your orbben icon now grows safely under my House's protection in anticipation of its service to you, and you might smile; for the very same kin seeks out more for your sole insatiable hunger. And finally, a wael lizard-elf of fire and flame suffered exquisitely for her transgressions. I prayed that the sound of her voice crying out your name brought you satisfaction.

The reclamation of the path;
Quote
West rivvin-town Berez, grave pit caverns
Led by the Vrammyr house sorcerer, I was introduced to some cavernous tunnels under the grave of this pitiful rivvin settlement. Not far under the earth did a room of curious crystals yield themselves to me, a habitat of exiles, followed by several larger chambers once belonged to a dead and forgotten wizard. Their research notes and work in necromancy clearly left unfinished as I had to cut several such experiments down before withdrawing. Perhaps I will return with a more capable raiding party and what worth this place truly has.

Under Her watchful gaze;
Quote
Sakphul, Sorry
The halfling has demonstrated her capability and devotion. I now delve into the unorthodox; introducing one such as she into the Yath. No doubt blasphemous to the formal Church, yet it is undeniable she has shown Lolth's favour. Her first trial is under my direction, to safeguard the creature that grows. After this it shall be for our Mother of Lusts to determine what Trial she will undergo next.
Quote
Sun-darthiir, Nerifiel
Sarcastic but irredemably rational and curious of the "forbidden" of her kind. Begins to learn her place as a lesser, but also seeks to prove her use; a task given she and I will work towards. Such success will determine what rank she may deserve in my eyes, and failure - I will have what I need regardless. With much of her sunlight bled and Lolth's icon applied upon her flesh, her further descent into your embrace shall be without issue.
Quote
Kin, Veszran of House Rilyn'ae
So, the Rilyn'ae matron sent a male to seek me out to either kill me or bring me back. Of course she did. She cannot help but weaken herself, the fool. Veszran has lost sight of his own path just as I have and so the intelligent thing was to indeed serve me, instead. My brother has yet much to learn of my expectations. In time. Useful that he is here, in fact. It so happens he will help me confederate the Yath'abban under our banner.
Quote
Kin, Kyorlin of House Vrammyr
Found strolling in the iblith stink hole that is the Drain, quickly reintroduced back into Lolth's great web. Serves his role with focus and without complaint, despite his failure in procuring the ingredients for a meal I requested. However, his dutiful assistance during our guest's evening and his slowly growing sorcerous power will be treated as an investment. I will be upset if this proves to be a waste of time.
Quote
Hissing-darthiir, Syndra
A skillful and surprisingly pleasing sithican to associate with. Remarkably different to the other hissing-elf, Kymil; less morose, argumentative, and serpentine. I think I will continue to see how I might adapt her to my - to Her ways. If the quality of our previous encounters are to go by, I am certainly encouraged in my outlook. It is, however, far too early to write with conviction for her duties and membership to some adventurer's guild poses a distinct problem I am to fully ascertain.

Dark Mother of all dhaerow. A million gossamer threads weave upon your silken tapestry, and I am but a single one. I entwine with a dozen others upon this World Above, many of whom twist and turn in the unpredictable chaos of which you represent. Through your wisdom gifted unto me, you have commanded my thread prudently still, as if to permit my continued life of service to you, and so I gradually extend your supremacy above, my Mother of Lusts. Yet the many others you deliver to me under your web are awards and burdens both; tests to taunt me and to offer opportunity and I but wonder upon your strange designs. Your gifts blacken in rot in my very hands, my mind fallen for tender lies and broken promises, and I hear your mocking laughter for it. Whol ussta yibinss lu'guu'lac d'dos usstan zhaun usstan inbal a'till nindol p'leik. Dare I might understand your paradoxical nature and the turmoil that swells upon your smile. Su lidos verith.

I witness the inane babble of the rivvin and fearful darthirii whom are splintered and divided, without true leadership or guidance. Witless and sad creatures, some significantly more than others. One in particular possessing a supremely delicate ego and believes themselves equal to Her children which is so clearly laughable. Even moreso when their very blood is dulled and tainted by Corellon's middling sunlight, lessers that they are. The opportunity to bleed it out is becoming more and more desirable, but admittedly percipience primarily defines the pursuit of our strength. One must obtain silence and weave ignorance for the time being. An offer has been made under the streets for the Gendarme defiance and crimes to myself, to this House, to Her. Perhaps time will bring results.

Under Her watchful gaze;
Quote
Grey-darthiir Nerifiel
The former sunlit elf continues to dwell in the shadow of Lolth's blessing and all-consuming venom - developing her power and prestige among kin, retaining the power of her calculative mind, yet forsaken of the flesh and beauty of Her children to instead be some ghoulish and dry creature. The trial is pure, a test that must be overcome with tenacity and will to further prove herself upon Her abyssal web. I look forward to see how far this ambitious wizard will tread.
Quote
Hissing-darthiir Syndra
[This entry has been recently torn out.]
Quote
Revi'n-darthiir Oriana
The past resurfaces after months of obscurity. This surfacer elf was one of the first to lend her efforts to my early ambitions. Reflection has permitted my admittance that my earlier actions to figuratively squeeze her throat were unnecessary; though on occasion her words push and taunt upon my mood, her pursuits to assist my progress have not faltered then, nor now. A diplomatic asset that may have other distinct uses.
Quote
Half-breed Arosc
A quiet but dutiful half-breed that complies with my demands. Her pitiful life beforehand lacked the presence of the goddess and so I have deemed to invest in weaving Her web upon the half-breed; to undergo a number of lessons involving Yath'abban Sorry that introduce Lolth's teachings and trials. I have yet to see a true demonstration of devotion and I consider if my efforts are wasted.
Quote
Half-breed Amalice
Another half-drow has been drawn into our House, yet this one has a background under Lolth, though of a school I had not heard of: 'Eight Legs Monastery'. Apparently lead by a Yathrin that taught its members how to be practical tools and nothing more. An unquestioning half-drow may be of purpose in the Underdark, but not here in this World Above. I require intelligence, cunning, loyalty, and the capacity to be more. She espouses strong words of devotion to me and to this House, therefore I have invoked similar lessons to inspire a sense of individuality in this one. I do not believe my efforts will be wasted.

Kin, Veszran of House Rilyn'ae
Some time has passed for my Rilyn'ae dalninuk since the punishment I applied upon him for his multiple failures. It pleases me to presently conclude his attitude and level of communication improves, along with his initiative, no doubt in small part due to his connection to the sakphul. Still, I must on occasion ask the right questions and pry the information from his tongue. Perhaps he will ascend in rank and favour after all? One can ever be so hopeful.

Kin, Volkantir of House Zae'ryl
Strong, mostly silent type in my presence. The jaluk complies with respect to my requests but little else to express right now other than clear devotion to jalil Xhaeli. Something more is reflected in his eyes. I have others watching.

Kin, Xhaeli of House Omriwin
A commoner dhaerow once serving House Omriwin as a peddler of elixirs and poisons. Miserably lacks faith to the Mother of Lusts and instead devotes herself to an Unseelie goddess, The Queen of Air and Darkness. If I anywhere else, this would be completely unacceptable to the Yath and would earn her great suffering until she casts off her lesser deity, but I must consider unorthodox opportunities. I do not refuse what potential she may bring to this House with magic, knowledge of toxins, and divination through flesh. Political incidents with lesser darthirii aside, many questions surface in my mind and there are answers to be determined. Regardless, Lolth demands this one returns under Her web or risk branding a traitor.

Kin, Rauva of House Rilyn'ae
The jalil could not endure. She incorporated much of Lolth's divine chaos and passion that fated her end. As Yath'abban Sorry expressed, she was too delicate for this World Above. It is a strange sensation: to dwell upon the finality of another dhaerow with anything more than contempt of their failure. Perhaps it is disappointment I feel as I had ambitions and designs to elevate her in this House for its strength, even renew her back into the Yath should her mind be restored. Or perhaps my sentiments test me; I wanted her by my side to eventually replace me when Lolth deems the usefulness of my life is at an end. I have failed to guide her along my path and because of it she now returns to our Dark Mother's abyss. I fear there are few others to replace me as matron to our collective when my soul is claimed, risking dissolution.

Obsidian reflections;
Quote
Twelve months ago I closed my eyes against the Depths Below. A place of darkness, of cunning minds and concealed daggers. I remembered that the failure that was my mother and revered matron, Tor’ani Rilyn’ae, must have keenly known that her life was to be over. Her advances to those of higher station were rebuked. Her spells were middling and the Yath took no interest. How she amassed what little wealth or trinkets for herself – earned by others - in vain belief they would save her from those more succesful, more favoured than she. The desperation had a scent which carried upon the faces and actions of all those that served her, including me. Even when I was lead to the altar to die for her attempts to earn Lolth’s favour, through my hate and desire to see her throat cut, I respected her ambition.

A captured sun-darthiir took my place in the ceremony. A male of apparent station, power, and respect in his community, but it afforded him little here for his pleading for mercy was like anyone else’s. I remember the Yath’abban’s cold hands upon my arm as she lead me away from the chamber, and I knew that icy grip would be the warmest thing I may feel for what little time I had left, for mother would see to my end regardless. For the first time I took my life in my own hands, to be free of this weakness. I demanded a place among the church and demonstated Lolth’s favour upon with her blessings and fealty to a Yathrin. My path ahead no longer was Matron Rilyn’ae’s exclusively to decide, but my many years in the Yath ahead was a trial I deem not presently recount in this book.

The tunnels of the Underdark stretched vastly before me, I, a spiderling walking a limitless expanse of mystery for the first time. I treaded the many twisting passages and dark chasms with the patrol, relegated to offer the few Rilyn’ae warrior males my meager blessings and restoratives. It was a basic task, one that most females would see to be beneath them, but those poorly trailed jaluk and I had something in common; though I failed to remember their names, their faces were clear in my mind, for they reflected an ironic sense of ease despite the many dangers outside the city - the departure from our grand city offered reprieve from their jabbress. A fantasy was born, an ambition of my own, to search for opportunity to be rid of my pathetic matron and the other jalil loyal to her, in some way. I would seek House Rilyn’ae as my own and guide it into strength and unification under our Queen of Spiders and my jaluk would not find desire or excuse to stray their intentions. I caught my smile so that none else could witness it.

Yet the only thing I found was mists and then, a darkness that wasn’t Hers.

Everything became the distant past. I knew nothing and no one for a time I couldn’t fathom.

My eyes opened and I awoke to a surface world where great light descended down to sting my sight like a mild acid trickling in. The many smiling, ignorant, faces of humans and few elves, dwarves and halflings remained before me, enemies all, yet very few bore arms against me. Bright days and dark nights of confusion waxed and waned but my mind slowly returned. I was reminded of what is within me and all of my kind: Pride. Anger. Fear. I felt them all so acutely once again as I tentatively walked beside my foes.

I was alone and without my patrol, Rilyn’ae, or the Yath. No commands, only silence. It took me some time to interpret it all over the many nights I sat in the corner of a dead-end cavern. Only one explanation made sense - a trial, an opportunity to demonstrate my loyalty and strength, a gift offered by Her. It was She that permitted this opportunity to come before me and for certain would she laugh at the spiderling that struggled to deliver Her will.

But I have progressed, all powerful Mother of Lusts, your presence in my heart persisting with your poison. My loyalty and devotion has always been yours, even if the very wisdom you graced me with leads me to implement your dominion in unorthodox ways. But you are Chaos; I understand that the principles are to be adapted and reforged upon this World Above; all that matters is the intent. The rules have changed, as I have always espoused, and they have, undeniably so. To tend to a demon of your design within a great spider as by your direct command. A halfling is my Yath'abban. An Ar'Tel'Quessir petitions your divinity and has bled Corellon's light. Dhaerow of different paths and faiths continued alongside us. Lovers in this House are graced with the very affections that are considered weak, unsavory, and laughable in the eyes of all kin below. Betrayers and traitors are permitted to live and leave. A great many questions dwell in my mind and I yearn to understand if what I do appeases you, Dark Mother.

The toxin has been prepared by those who I hope to trust. The life within me is my offering, my sacrifice. As I die and call your name, it shall then be for you to decide my fate, my Quarvalsharess.

Allow me to continue to be your most favoured upon this World Above, your Yath'tallar.
