After bringing back a corpse to the church for raising, I used the corpse item on the priestess while under the effect of improved invisibility and it turned out the body was raised without the needed gold amount being taken from me (no screenshot of the log sadly though in this case the price was 300 gp). I suspect this might be related to how the paying is related to the perception of the NPC caster, which would be fine for someone in sneak mode since using an item breaks the sneaking action, though it doesn't for invisibility spells.
