Vacation in Hazlan - Bes'lyth Dwin’arnith
« on: February 05, 2019, 07:00:03 PM »
Inside the small slave camp beside the Red Academy of the Grand Ramulai of Hazlan, a small sanguine haired Sun Elf settles into her tent. In her tent rests a journal filled with records of her time in the land of city, the journal's first page seems to be littered with wet markings and the page is crumpled slightly as if flattened out afterwards.

Quote
1372 DR, Bes'lyth's Journal.

I have arrived in the 'Great' City of Ramulai and to much of the credit of a Master Mumed Za'am I am allowed to keep a journal, after a long time spent in a region of this land called, Sly'var, I was attacked by humans and brought there to serve at a place called the Za'am estate. Their strictness knew no bounds, I was given no time to think of a way to escape or deal with my captors and I now find myself with a pain that shatters my pride as one of the fair people so. I could have never foreseen this, to have such humiliation, pushed upon me and marked as ‘inferior' and a SLAVE to these Mulani folk that rule this Hazlan they speak of. This Za'am man is a necromancer, a ruthless one at that, much of the rest of the Mulani his cruelty and coldness seems to know little bounds, I followed him towards the city of Ramulai and while betwixt there and a canyon he seems to have melted four men he called "rebels" to death with the help of two undead creatures he had brought forth and a green cloud of what seemed to be acid.

As we arrived at the city, he had me use my rather broken Vaasi as he called it, from those bulky human slavers at the Estate which quite painfully insisted I learn such. If I ever leave this place I will be sure to pay them a visit and paint that estate red with their blood. However, it is best to know my place for now, I was almost sick as that Za'am man- [There seems to be a few words crossed out, through his page.] And as I pulled the scalps from those men into my hands, I still felt the weight of such upon myself, my gut surprised me when I hadn't vomited but perhaps that was due to the lack of food in my stomach to produces such. He had me talk with a "Barovian Prisoner" as he called the human in the cell he had brought me to. The man was missing a hand and the stump seemed to be quite rotten, I was given five vials and some food and cider to give the man as I was tasked with supposedly taking care of this Human. He explained a few things about this land to me and mentioned a place called 'Vallaki' his name is Alexandru from 'Vallaki' another place I hadn't heard of and it has me wondering if this nonsense he was speaking about Mists might be true.

If I do perish, I hope one of my fellow slaves or any of my Kin might find this journal, might the Seldarine grant me clairvoyance in this dark place.

The journal was evidently written in Elven, the words seemed to be quite fluidly written however emotion took over in various places throughout the first entry.

Vacation in Hazlan - Bes'lyth's second entry

The sanguine haired Elf returns to her tent in the slave camp after a long day, looking quite worn out she meets with a figure on the outskirts of Ramulai before heading inside the Great City. Settling down she is seen scribbling away in her mother tongue to mark down the second entry into her journal.

Quote
1372 DR, Bes'lyth's Journal.

Today has been, eventful, to say the least. Alexandru seems to have been rather asleep by the time I came out of reverie so instead of getting time to gain a familiarity with the city Master Za'am led me off into a cave just out of the outskirts of where I was almost turned into a fine shredded Elf by some spike covered monstrosity. His excuse as he said was for me to help him "Gather ingredients". Inside the cave gaunt looking creatures carrying odd hilt-less blades stood in groups silently their eyes horrifyingly empty and as he explained they were minions of a rival of his. Him and this rival clearly have an affinity for necromancy, with these beings as he said having been "Trapped between life and death." as-long as I don't end up like such I will happily avoid this man's wrath. He seemed to have dealt with them easily however, a few incantations and mere moments later they lay melted on the ground.

We returned to the city, after he had gathered his things, I hadn't seen it obviously I doubt such a mysterious man would let me find out what he needed. We passed a few bandits on the way there and saw something horrifying as he absorbed one such bandits very guts, watching them flow into him as the magic in his hand went dark before a red burst of energy filled the air. Truly the magic here is as horrid as the land itself. I find myself growing more wary of even the other slaves more than the slavers themselves this is certainly troubling.

Taking care of myself and staying on the good side of my current Master seems like a good plan for now, I will continue to follow his orders as best I can to keep him from questioning my loyalty and perhaps in time I will find a way to leave this disgusting place. However, now as I write this I feel a tiredness taking over in my bones, running around that cave took a great effort and being careful to avoid those husks of humanoids was certainly a horrible experience I doubt I will experience for the last time in my 'vacation' here in this "Hazlan".

I retire for reverie again, I would wish myself luck in gaining a peaceful rest, but I am afraid I would cause a jinx with my luck.

This page is clean in comparison to the other, not crumpled at all it is indeed completely pristine apart from a dry stain of blood in the top right corner where one would rest their finger before changing pages.

Vacation in Hazlan - Bes'lyth's third entry

The sanguine haired Elf vanishes into the Red Academy of Ramulai with three other figures, before she is seen leaving with a previously not seen robed figure who at the slave camp she seems to try to grab hold of before stepping away and settling down in her tent to scribble in yet another entry in the Elven language.

Quote
1372 DR, Bes'lyth's Journal.

I was tasked with tending to a few guests by Master Za'am, today, it was horrifying. Two women, one a former 'Quoa' as they said in Vaasi and her human bodyguard who happened to be quite disgusting. We met inside with a woman named Kova with an eye that looked like that of some sort of horrible beast and the other eye being that or a normal human. She is a sister to Mumed, another of these Za'am folk. He told me to tend to the two guests as best as possible. I went up to the library in the academy with them and was asked to fetch "Wine and Figs", to which I had no idea where to look I asked this Kova where I would find such and she responded telling me to follow. Before we left the pair she made a harsh comment, "Mumed is hasn't broken this one in yet, we will return." gritting my teeth I prepared for the worst. However, much to my surprise, I was shown where to find what I was looking for and we returned with them.

They spoke of this land and it's politics, this Quoa Family being stripped of all titles of land due to the treasonous acts of one of their sons, this woman was the wife of such a man and even then she seemed barely bothered apart from the loss of titles, quickly asking Master Za'am if their families should open negotiations to marry, he however didn't seem all that bothered and made a comment saying his father who I have thankfully yet to run into would be 'pleased' before returning into the lower floor of the academy. Before the pair left, the bodyguard looked deep into my eyes and I felt a horrid feeling of despair flow through my body sickening memories of other slaves being beaten and abused flowed through my mind and as they left I felt myself HUMILIATED while I crumbled onto the floor sobbing a few seconds later.

After I had gathered myself I went with Mistress Kova below, to meet Master Mumed to which I saw something horrible, his face and her own marred with stitches and scarring both of their arms holding skeletal digits before I realized they were both partially of the dead. I tried to distract myself by looking to a nearby book which was filled with even more horrid anatomy, I held myself from vomiting to avoid a swift beating and Kova escorted me out of the Academy to my tent again and she spoke in my mother tongue. The despicable acts of these Wizards, first I am brought into slavery and now scum speak the tongue of my people, I felt my very heart breaking under me once more and again to much sadness I could do no more than wail in sadness.

This page, like the first seems quite mistreated, dirty fingerprints litter it and the odd wet mark from what one would assume to be pitiful crying.

Vacation in Hazlan - Bes'lyth's fourth entry

The sanguine haired Elf is seen returning to Ramulai with a Mulani and a masked man, she moves to the slave camp with both and is seen being whipped to the count of ten by the Mulani, all the while screaming in unbearable pain as the lashes tear her back up brutally. She passes out rather abruptly on the ninth lash and is seen crawling to her tent later in which a glowing light resonates from for a few moments, alongside a quivering humming voice.

Quote
1372 DR, Bes'lyth's Journal.

I was punished and have been given a new position as a slave as Master Za'am's personal servant, we went to the same cave of gaunt undead beings with his new student, a Mulani man. It was all going smoothly until he decided he had the right to speak the tongue of the fair people, to me, even though it was clear I was speaking Vaasi. I told him to stop and explained that no matter his stance on the subject he was no more guilty than Master Za'am for the enslavement of the Elves in this land, he came up with excuses of being a poor Mulani. As the argument went on back and forth, Master Za'am surprisingly gained agreement with me even as I expected him to punish me for arguing with his student.

Then, suddenly out of nowhere, at first I thought I had gone mad I saw an Elven man running through the cave. He turned back, saw me, he tried to help me and he attacked Master Za'am, but I didn't act foolishly. Instead I may have wasted my only chance at escape but it was better than dying as I ran from a powerful wizard. We returned to Ramulai and I felt a growing sickness in my stomach at the idea I had left up freedom to preserve the life of another kin. I was punished then and there, the excuse he used; "Because I can." The words echo in my mind even now, I can hear them clearly, for him to mock me so with his power just as I had talked down to his student in my fury.

I took my punishment, screaming and gritting my teeth, the pain was unbearable and I awoke to find my back bleeding heavily as the rainwater washed away at the wounds. To avoid infection, I drank one of the antidotes that stuffed into my cloths he originally gave me for Alexandru. My throat hurts, all that screaming has left me hoarse throughout. I wish I was in Silverymoon, still, with my mother. I wonder if I will ever see her again.

Apart from the writing this page seems untouched, left pristine by her emotions and kept clean for some bewildering reason.

Vacation in Hazlan - Bes'lyth's fifth entry

The sanguine haired Elf is seen entering her tent with two other people, presumably other slaves, both Human- One seems to have suffered an odd loss of moisture to the lethal level to their skin. The other two people the Elf entered with leave, later.

Quote
1372 DR, Bes'lyth's Journal.

Quite a bit of time has passed, since my last entry into this book, yet something happened yesterday that led to my return to such a book. Three people arrived at the Academy, two servants and a Master who claimed to have won an Arcane tournament of some-sort. I took them to the Administrator as commanded and then the Guards, as the Administrator said they required an 'Enrolled Student or Instructor' to tour the academy. The Guard they spoke to said the slave known as Ren, had stepped out of line and so he made me take her decrepit master's walking stick and beat her repeatedly with it until the Guard was satisfied, I will admit I held back a moment on the first swing but after a while it started to feel fantastic to hurt the woman for being so rude.

We then went inside, the Administrator required that their Master prove his skill in the Arcane on one of his servants, to which their Master asked me to choose who should be the test subject. I of course, with slight hate towards the woman that simply called me a wretched Elf, decided it would be best if he did whatever he was going to unto her. The spell he dealt to her body seemed to have drained the very moisture from her, the administrator then decided it was satisfactory and I was told to take care of the other two servants in my hovel. I applied wet bandages to the woman's skin to restore the moisture to it and we spoke for a while. Before I went to sleep.

Is there truly a chance for me to escape, still?

The page is pristine, again, without any markings it seems immaculately kept inside the journal, as clear as her thoughts could be imagined.

The sanguine haired Elf is not seen to leave her tent for some time, eventually another entry is added to her Journal, it seems to be written slowly, thoughtfully.

Quote
1372 DR, Bes'lyth's Journal.

Today, I had a vision of sorts. Something that has corrected my way of thinking, I think. I know for sure now that I will slaughter any of the Hazlani Wizards who do not stand out of my way when I escape, I saw that power in my dreams as I tossed the small child that looked a-kin to myself into the magma I felt as if I was becoming something greater. The power that I hadn't even known to exist, just within my grasp, I felt their blood trickle down my fingertips as I tore the arcanists apart one by one for my own satisfaction. It truly felt BRILLIANT I felt the fire rising within me, my blood turning to fire as I prepared to fly off. I felt as if I would stop at nothing to have my freedom and suddenly... I awoke in my tent, covered in sweat. Yet it was more than a dream, I accepted that which was inside me when I threw her into the magma.

In other news, it has been quiet as of late, I have settled for mediocre work as I wait for that Mumed man to return, perhaps he will bring me some viable work to build strength and experience in other fields. I have not had time to properly plan my escape, but I cannot be afraid any-longer I must push onwards as I had in the dream, through the fire and blood to my own victory.

I will not die here, I am destined for much greater than this.

The sanguine haired Elf is seen sitting close to the fire outside, staring into it almost hungrily.

Blood covers the next page page, leaking through onto the next few pages of the journal, heavy breathing and trembling fingers alongside a frantic whispering song stay about the vicinity of the book.

Visions that lead deep within the forests of Hazlan, tranquil woodlands growing with flames of undisputed hatred burn and gather, her vision that of punishment as viscous growling fills the air.

A pair of golden lizard-like eyes follow a scaled monstrous arm, to it's claw which wraps firmly around the neck of a humanoid silhouette, ready to squeeze and drain the life from the creature.

They slowly slacken as a muffled voice resounds nearby, a long deep and hungry breath of fury, frantic and forced out in it's wake leads the pair of savage hate-filled eyes to the voice nearby.

The sound of crunching and the tearing of whips against skin fills the air, the screams of agony of the now monstrous woman as blood fills her vision.

Quote
I WANT TO LIVE, I WANT TO LIVE!

A gentle hand caresses the monstrous woman's horns and face as the noises cease, cherishing, loving. The pain slowly vanishing as she stares up into the eyes of a shadowed savior floating in the air.

All slowly fades into a pure white light, the blinding rescue of the morning sun from the painful darkness of a nightmare.

A boiling blood-lust burns within the Elf, tainted with Dragon blood, as she stares up at the shadowy form infront of her- On her knee's, staring and watching, kneeling infront of the creature that had silver white hair and tipped ears.

Quote

...I will have my vengeance, no matter the cost, no matter how much blood I must march through... the shame I must bear- It will be mine and mine alone...

The weight of her blood, baring down on her- Trying to push her to leap forth and tear the throat of the creature to thin ribbons, was being cooled and smashed into a figurative cave inside her mind- Locking away her instinctual blood lust and dominance. She holds herself, like the caged beast her true self was- Furious, insane and generally a vile creature.

A deep misty vale, with a huge skeleton-- Glowing, head to toe in mist, hand resting on a huge longsword impaled in the ground.

Blessed...?

Cursed...?

The sickly smell of Vallaki's sewers fill her nostrils again at a sudden flash of light, the need to conquest returns, the need to spill blood-- To burn a legacy out of this forsaken world for herself, to exterminate the weak and unworthy no matter the cost.
