[Drawings Scattered in Port-a-Lucine]
« on: November 19, 2018, 01:03:15 PM »
Dramatized drawings are scattered about the poorer areas of Port-a-Lucine. They are hastily done in Conté sticks depicting a violent scene. To the left first are fleeing commoners of the Ourvier, horror and fear upon hunger panged faces as they abscond from a score of limp bodies spackled red and grasping gunshot wounds strewn about a now vermillion colored street. A mother holds a bleeding body in her arms, weeping. To the right we see the source of this death; Gendarme drawn in cold blues, stark and cruel as they took aim at fleeing peasants. Among their rank can be seen a caricature of Sergeant Schrotter and Lieutenant Trelliard as they drag a likeness of Edgard Martel, still clutching his revolutionary fliers as he is pulled away. A simple question is written in Low Mordentish at the foot of the drawings:

WHO ARE THE CRIMINALS?

[Within a few short hours, a patrol of several ranking officers and Gendarmes patrol the City, seizing and removing each poster in turn, until they are all removed.]

Notes appear alongside more official 'GOVERNMENT NOTICE's in Port-a-Lucine.

HONEST GOVERNMENT NOTICE

HEAR SOMETHING?

SEE SOMETHING?

SAY NOTHING.

If you see something out of the ordinary, if you see something that doesn't seem right, say nothing. Your local precinct of the Gendarmerie Nationale de Dementlieu will do nothing to ensure the safety of the workers of Dementlieu. Statements can be made on the state of local suffering but they will be ignored. Only through division, by turning a blind eye to the plight of the common man, can we as La Serene République de Dementlieu maintain the degradation of our society. The wealthy need not fear us, for we are the protectors of the nobility, the keepers of the division, and an icon of civilisation. Only the criminal that would seek to oppose the division need fear us. Only those that do not pay us need cower.

[Once more, the posters are categorically removed from where they have been sighted by a Falkovnian Gendarme, alongside a man in the colors of House Trelliard and a member of the Militia.]

In a single night, the government notices earlier posted in the Ouriver have been torn down, and the aforementioned drawing redistributed with a vengeance throughout the district bleeding into the Marchands.

The icing on the cake however, is where the official notices have been returned to; a heap just on the other side of the gate outside of the Gendarme offices, burning in an improvised quick fire set in the middle of the road. Of course, this deed of disobedience and rabble rousing is signed with another drawing itself, along with a smaller note reading in Low Mordentish;

WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED

[Yet again, within a few hours of the distribution of the rhetoric the notices are seized by a patrol of Gendarmes, categorically, from each alleyway and each crevice of the Marchand and Ouvrier with precision. The Gendarmes seem surprised to find that whoever seemed to pull most of the 'GOVERNMENT NOTICE' papers, missed a number of them in alleys and walkways throughout each district. In steed of this, they aren't renewed quite yet, and later word gets around that the notices were burned in-front of the city in a small fire. Within the hour of the notices being removed, a patrol of Gendarmes plasters to several walls an extended address written on parchment with the ink-stamp of the Gendarmerie Nationale de Dementlieu, apparently in direct response to the recent mass of incendiary propaganda posted about the two districts...]

⚜ CITOYENS DE LA RÉPUBLIQUE! ⚜

 One man is not We; The People, as La Serene République de Dementlieu is comprised of. The times are hard, and the wages are poor. Yet, we must endure and persevere. These times will come to pass, and an appropriate avenue to discuss the future of the working man will come. It shall not be ignored, as it has many years in the past. The Gendarmerie Nationale de Dementlieu is dedicated to the protection of the citizenry, the integrity of our République, and civil peace across it. If there are concerns, you may speak with an officer of the Gendarmerie Nationale de Dementlieu, rather than defaming government property, or attempting to incite others to act in violence in steed of your own misbegotten political agenda. This is why the incendiary rhetoric has been removed from these walls. Those with legitimate concerns, may retrieve a permit from the Palais Dirigeant to peacefully congregate and express your concerns in the public theatre, rather than cloak-and-dagger messages from a stranger. However this delusion that those in the Gendarmerie Nationale de Dementlieu have any vendetta against the common people is a farce intended to inspire revolutionary fervor from years ago, when the times are anything but a parallel. Do not allow your heart to be so easily swayed by the honeyed words of a masked stranger, Citizen.

Merci beaucoup,

[In response to the propaganda spreading about the City of Lights, an anonymous artist (who some onlookers say is a hairy, bearded wildman) has been spreading his crudely-drawn comics wherever he sees the postings. The image depicts a falcon roosted on a human skull and is clearly mocking the complaints of the agitator.]
Me miserable! which way shall I fly
Infinite wrath and infinite despair?
Which way I fly is hell; myself am hell;
And in the lowest deep a lower deep,
Still threat’ning to devour me, opens wide,
To which the hell I suffer seems a heaven.
