Sins of the Father

It is a daunting task, to stay afloat. To remember, to honor, to embrace. To not lose oneself to grief, anger, despair. To survive. All challenges that the former patron of the Vestergaard's of Bergovitsa had to face on the day to day. He was getting older in years, and one would think that he would be used to loss — used to the feeling of a void in his heart. Perhaps he was, as no one bothered to make certain. They saw upon him the visage of bitterness and harsh words, but sometimes they would also see under the veil. They would see the scars, the cuts and bruises, the weariness of a lifetime, and so, if they knew what happened, they would do well to reason with what bothered him.

But what bothered him most of all was the how. What bothered him was the method, the result, and his own involvement. What he made sure not to forget was that despite the fact he did not shove the dagger in between her ribs, he was still at fault. Blood still smattered his form for his inadequacy, his inaction, his inability to keep up. His lack of care and time, even despite his great love.

And so it was that she has fallen.

The trial commenced, and within hours, it was announced (no doubt with divine providence) that he is to be exiled from Nova Vaasa and be stripped of all he owned save for what was on his person. He was spared the executioner's noose, instead given the following years of lamentation and sadness.

He knew what he had to do to find absolution, in his own eyes.

It was a daunting task.

He would have to learn many new things that he had not given heed to before. Acquire tools he would not normally think to use. Skills that would fit his mental and physical frame, such that would compliment him. He had a lot of catching up to do.

But he had no doubt in his mind, that his salvation draws near, and that the day of judgement upon another draws nearer....

It was but a matter of time.
