Creature weapons breaking weapon damage!
« on: September 24, 2018, 08:21:04 AM »
So based off of the following:

I have noticed that I am not doing as much damage as I am supposed to.
Since my character uses a greatsword (x1.5 STR MOD DMG) and has Weapon Specialization.
Yet ever since I have gotten these forced creature weapons my damage has dropped.

Unarmed:

With greatsword, improved criticals, weapon specialization:

So my question is:

Am I being fooled by the character sheet, or is the damage fall-off I have noticed (especially since getting the 1d4 bite) actually screwing me over?
Because I noticed recently that I will occasionally crit for less damage than the average hit I do. Which was never a thing until I got the d4 bite.

I did some testing, the hypothesis was that if I can't deal the high end amount of damage that the greatsword does with its 2d6 vs. 1d6 or 1d4 then it is truly screwing me over. The calculations were as following:

11 STR MOD = 16 Physical Extra + 2 Weapon Specialization = 18

Quote
Greatsword physical:
2d6 + 18 + 1d8 = 21 - 38 (42 - 76)

Claws physical:
1d6 + 18 + 1d8 = 20 - 32 (40 - 64)

Bite physical:
1d4 + 18 + 1d8 = 20 - 30 (40 - 60)

I need to hit for more than 32 on a regular hit or 64 on a crit.

I can confirm that I hit over 32 damage on several hits as I tried hitting the @marks you can make.

From what I can tell, correct.
Unless I messed up some calculation.
There's also the fact I tried it single-hitting a @mark rather than doing 3 consecutive attacks in a row to see if the 3rd attack might trigger differently.
