Spoiler: show
Swirling mists take
Prey in a merciless grasp
Leaving in the Jigoku
-
Aimless I wander
No longer a swift arrow
A leaf on a wind.
-
Duty failed, path lost
Honor demands to end it
Hope urges to go on.
-
Alara-chan:
Eyes of a scared doe
Tormented soul of caged birds
Sword becomes human
-
Maren-san:
Hair of dying fire
Lips whispering songs of spring
A confident step

Weeks or two years? I can't tell
Feels like decades, son.

Steel chains hold firmly
Pride and honor are chains too
Chains I will not shed

The songbird is lost
On the path with thick mist. Fills
My heart with worry

Strange land, stranger men
An old bear can comfort you
Or sink fangs in you
-
Please don't die today
When the sun rises you'll find
You have made it through
-
Samurai doing
Peasants work. What a disgrace
A means to survive
-
Tenshin san:
Kindness in his words
Wisdom gained through long years
I bow with reverence

Spoiler: show
Dark dangerous land
Like a hen over her chicks
I worry for friends
-
Fox-chan:
Red hair and sly looks
Elf with a soul of a fox
Stabs in backs and flees
-
A life fades like dew
Leaving more dew in the eyes
Of those who remain
-
Zolas-san:
A motherly smile
Concealed beneath the veil just
Like her past, hidden
-
Shoji:
My soul is alone
Even among friends. Thinking
About you, my son

Spoiler: show
Study 1: vampires

Weaknesses:
Wooden stakes - immobilize them
Sunlight
Silver, platinum weapons
Divine energy, Fire
Holy water, Hallowed ground
Running water (acts like acid)
Drained during daytime
Mirrors - repel them. Vampires have no reflection
Garlic  - repels them
Holy symbols - repel them if faith is involved

Dwelling:
Hide their coffins in caves, sewers, crypts, catacombs, attics, abandoned buildings, cellars, often under protection of other monsters.
Most will find home in caverns at roads well traveled or villages with a weak lookout. Some even blend into society.

Appearance:
Pale skin, red eyes. Males, females of a humanoid race. They can eat normal food to keep up appearances, though it grants them no sustainance.

Abilities:
They can dominate one's thoughts with a glance
Supernatural speed
Regeneration
Typical resistances of undeads, including physical resilience
Resiliant to a priest's rebuke
Shapeshifting into a bat, gas (vampires go into gas form to flee). Some sources speak of shapeshifting wolves, rats, cats, snakes or ravens

Abilities:
Healing in their coffins, over a period of time.
Dark sorcery, weakening or draining.

Servants:
Thralls (feeding on vampire's blood), mind controlled, other undead, animated corpses of their victims, constructs.

Fighting:
Staking a vampire when they rest in their coffins
Destroying a coffin to give them no place to retreat to
beheading or smiting
Immunity against negative energy and mind protection are a must
Bring them into sunlight
Bring them onto hallowed ground

Notes:
They are unlikely going to leave their coffin for too long so will remain in a days walk from one if not closer.
Cannot enter a house without permission the first time.
Can enter public areas as it's considered to automatically be an invitation.
Negative energy heals them.

Zivon san's poem:
I pray for dawn
Drowned in blood
Cold and naked and heavyset
With the misery of change

A great beast is slain
Blood upon the wet rain
Who bellows the wish
Of an end to the wasted farse

The Lion whispers
More than he ever roars
And the Hound near his flank
Hears more than what she speaks

I pray for dusk
Draped in silence
Peaceful and quiet and lean
With its sprawling repose, at last
_
Blessed be Ezra, Our Guardian in the Mists.
She who sacrificed Herself to fill the Hollow. Healer of the sick, protector of the weak, guide to the lost.
To You we pray. Watch over us, Your people, take us under Your protection. Show us the light when we are lost in the darkness. Defend us when the Legions draw near.
Lead us to our place in the Grand Scheme and deliver us through the night to the shelter of peace. Amen.

A cloak of snow hugs the ground
My spring has begun
-
Shoji:
A voice from the mist
A prayer for your safety
You are not alone
-
Drums are mute, masks shed
To honor their stolen flame
Actors live their roles
-
Running with the pack
Climbing sewers, roaming woods
Bloodhued night vigils
-
The city of lights
A rotten core lays beneath
A mask of beauty
