Wooden stakes - immobilize them
Sunlight
Silver, platinum weapons
Divine energy, Fire
Holy water, Hallowed ground
Running water (acts like acid)
Drained during daytime
Mirrors - repel them. Vampires have no reflection
Garlic - repels them
Holy symbols - repel them if faith is involved
Dwelling:
Hide their coffins in caves, sewers, crypts, catacombs, attics, abandoned buildings, cellars, often under protection of other monsters.
Most will find home in caverns at roads well traveled or villages with a weak lookout. Some even blend into society.
Appearance:
Pale skin, red eyes. Males, females of a humanoid race. They can eat normal food to keep up appearances, though it grants them no sustainance.
Abilities:
They can dominate one's thoughts with a glance
Supernatural speed
Regeneration
Typical resistances of undeads, including physical resilience
Resiliant to a priest's rebuke
Shapeshifting into a bat, gas (vampires go into gas form to flee). Some sources speak of shapeshifting wolves, rats, cats, snakes or ravens
Abilities:
Healing in their coffins, over a period of time.
Dark sorcery, weakening or draining.
Servants:
Thralls (feeding on vampire's blood), mind controlled, other undead, animated corpses of their victims, constructs.
Fighting:
Staking a vampire when they rest in their coffins
Destroying a coffin to give them no place to retreat to
beheading or smiting
Immunity against negative energy and mind protection are a must
Bring them into sunlight
Bring them onto hallowed ground
Notes:
They are unlikely going to leave their coffin for too long so will remain in a days walk from one if not closer.
Cannot enter a house without permission the first time.
Can enter public areas as it's considered to automatically be an invitation.
Negative energy heals them.
