Blood is daubed on the ground before the Hospice, cruel words written in it. It is soon cleaned away, but the place is locked up afterwards, only being entered by figures in white robes, and a trio of Garda. At dawn one day a procession of veiled and hooded holy people leaves, carrying a number of bundles wrapped in cloth that look like bodies.
