A body has been found in an abandoned house in the Slums of Vallaki. Found hung by the neck, the suicide case appears to have gone unnoticed for some time. Despite the state of the body, it has been identified as one Erika Dumitrascu.

A garda while patrolling the Slums this afternoon could have sworn he saw Natasha Orlov, hero of Vallaki, walk through town and to the warehouse district.

As the morning falls, writings in blood red can be found on the walls of buildings in the slums. Their message is mostly about death.

An odd occurrence was seen in the slums. A mysterious man in full armor delivered care packages of food and warm clothes to the streetwalkers in the Vallaki slums. He never said a word, never asked for anything in return. When the girls returned from working the drag, they found their pimp to have been violently bludgeoned to death.

A horrible scene was discovered this morning in the Vallaki slums, two bodies that had been dismantled by the evening rats lay sprawled on a living room. The door to the house was hanging intact and ajar. One of the men was identified as Vital Brojov, a local street pimp, and the other was Broja Kurnan, a cobbler, and the man who owned the house. In the basement would be found a variety of empty cages and restraints, food bowls, and a surprisingly large quantity of opium cut with whiskey. There is no sign of what was in the cages.

Word spreads that a dim light can be seen through the murky windows of The Gaping Wound once again.

Mercenaries and cut throats alike have been seen coming and going in the failing light of day.

Rumors circulate of dead bodies left in the streets; women butchered and children gone missing. The Garda are on high alert and seem even more xenophobic in general. Nothing is for certain but many agree on one thing; The city of Vallaki has become all the more dangerous.

Rumor spreads quickly that a large transport of grain is planned from the distant country of Dementlieu. Weather is true or not, nobody knows.

Freak storms have hit the Zarovich Valley, crops and fields laid to ruin. Already many within the Grey City have seen a drastic rise in the price of grain and vegetables. The poor of the Slum District have already begun to strave.

Within the old, abandoned hospice in the slums, an anchorite of Ezra is often seen, providing food to those who will have it and tending to the sick in the slums. The supplies of clean bandages and sheets are restocked regularly.

Word spreads quickly amongst the neglected and forgotten of Vallaki, that a kind man in Green Robes offers food and shelter to the orphans of the Slums. An outlander, Nathaniel the Anchorite seems to have attracted the notice of the humble folk of the Grey City.

The efforts of the Toret and the of the Morninglord faith in the city are felt - a warmth in this cold. But as their reputation grows and their food stores and sources become known the lines grow larger as more and more people overlook their prejudices in the way of self-preservation. The Toret's hospice will be mostly left as it has been - the sick and especially needy coming to him... but the temple in the slums will begin to feel the strain. Even the recent delivery of venison from some kindly fey will not be enough as things grow more dire. . .

After completing his morning tour of the outskirts Decebal Cuza goes out each day and gathers as much food as he can from the surrounding woods, berries, mushrooms, deer. On one particular day, he returns with the aid of a hooded accomplice delivering what seems to be the meat from three massive bears, enough to feed a few families for a week, a mere drip in a pond, but at least it's something. He deliverers this food to the morninglords, steering clear of the Ezrites

Even as supplies run low within the hospice, the resident anchorite does not turn away those coming to seek his aid, barely eating enough to sustain himself. As he is seen going over the supplies list in the small office room, those who reside within the shelter cannot help but notice his worried expression, even though he will offer words of comfort and encouragement to the poor.

The Akiri woman, Tali can be seen placing small tins of food at the door to every home in the slums just before dusk and then she retires to the Hospice with the Ezrite Toret.

A foreigner clad in simple, rustic browns and always masked with strange attire has been extorting the local populace with outrageous prices for even the simplest of food stuffs which is often of the poorest quality, long stale, mouldy or plain rotten. This profiteering from the misery of others seems to be on the increase as well as a steadily growing number of armaments supplied by the same individual...

Despite the hospice's supplies running thin, the resident anchorite has been seen traveling the slums, delivering what supplies he can spare to the homes of the poor just before dusk.

The girls who have gone missing only to return with right lips about their disappearance seem to be working together to hunt wolves during the daylight hours of the nearby forest, apparently in attempt to bring in meat, warm furs, and a reduction in the more palatable animal's natural predators.

The arrival of a large chest of food - primarily crocodile - has been announced. The delivery was made by the Ezrite Ser Zidonne LeFebvre, the Knight of Song from Dementlieu, and Cael Hawklight. The chest contains enough meals to feed nearly five hundred for the week, and was given to the care of Nickoli Ciobotaru of the Morning Lord Church. The chest awaits garda regulation in the Morning Lord Slums temple, and will begin to collect more donations at the ready, as well as feed those in need.

Early in the morning the Ezrite Toret cant be seen leaving the hospice, bag slung over his shoulder, church business on his mind. Meanwhile the Akiri woman, Tali, seems to have taken over his duties in the hospice, welcoming all those who need food and shelter from the unforgiving night, with open arms.

[The volume of people that Tali sees within the hospice almost triples overnight, once word gets out that the stores of food given to the temple of the Morninglord in the slums have been confiscated by the Vallaki Garda. There is panic in the air, as many of those starving believe that the Vallaki Garda might just seize all the food offered here, too...]

[Word spread quickly throughout the slums that Romulich imported a large shipment of tubers and grains, and were giving away loaves of bread and bowls of stew in a makeshift kitchen set up outside the Prancing Nymph. Indeed, Mikal himself was present, asking the peasants why it wasn't the Ionelus doing this? What actions have they taken to help feed the people? His words began to resonate with the people, "Say what you will about my family, but WE are the ones providing in Vallaki's time of need!"
The peasants dispersed without conflict, but many were left grumbling about the Ionelus' lack of action...]

[Mikal Romulich himself has been outside the Prancing Nymph, speaking loudly to a group of peasants who gathered for food.]

"The Ionelus have done NOTHING to ease this famine, they have not brought in food nor seeds for the farms! The garda have been blaming the Wachters for sending spies to steal our food, they have blamed them for stealing our seeds, but I have it on good word that last night the Vallaki guards instigated a fight with the Wachter guards, even shooting a son of Vallaki with an arrow for accepting food from them. How many other offerings of food have the Wachters tried to give that have been turned down out of the Ionelus' pride? Do not blame the garda for this, their job is to follow orders. And their orders are clearly NOT to help Vallaki in its time of need!

We, the Romulich, are forming a new militia to take over the duties the Ionelus will not see done! All militia men will be provided arms, armour, and three meals a day. The first tasks will be to get the farms in order, to get crops growing, and to guard the crops against theft and vandals. I want to be able to offer all farmers who need guards to have guards. It is time for the real problems we are facing to be addressed, instead of wasting the lives of men and women on the Ionelus' sense of pride!"
