A tall man in stereotypical plague doctor's garbs, and mask, was seen cleaning up the black ooze and picking up the rotten body parts strewn across all of Vallaki, accompanied by a woman in a mask. He was last spotted heading east towards the Village of Barovia, bag of ooze and limbs in hand...

~Some of the Food left behind by those spreading good will have been eaten by vermin, more over a large pile of brown and grey fur was seen blowing around in the wind of the main thoroughfare, it's origin's unknown but many would come to speculate they look like the fur of a Rat Neuri ~

A young Gundarakite man was found dead in an alleyway in the middle of the slums.  It appeared he had been out late in the night, and met a grisly and horrific end.  Inspection of the scene showed the man had been beaten to death, with both his arms broken in at least two places, and his jaw shattered by repeated blunt force strikes.  The dead man's innards had been pulled out, and in his own gore the words 'Gnash is Coming' were found scrawled on the walls of the alley.  Who this 'Gnash' is, and when he is coming remains a mystery.

~ Bedlam erupted in the slums recently, several marks left on doors claiming the area as King Rend's terriotry, the corpse of a woman strewn about, her innards painting the street like some macabre canvas and the attack of some man..his finger being bitten off then regurgitated by the gates..not to mention a trail of blood leading into the sewers..whatever stirs in the dark of old night one can be sure it is not something wholesome~

A man dressed in black is seen investigating the crime sites, following the trails into the sewers. The same man, rumors would have it, is at times seen out on the streets after dark, searching for someone or something...

Some inhuman screeching is heard coming from the Wayfarer Kinship Lodge early in the day, but is merely mentioned in passing due to the Barovian habit of ignoring iadul outlander madness where possible...

~the streets have been utterly quiet of late in the dark of old night, as if whatever had been causing the disturbances has been removed entirely. This leads to some speculation that perhaps the guilty party has recently gone missing or has somehow been either detained or killed~

~In the gloom of Old Night something fell stirred on the streets of Vallaki, leaving a Deluge of Chaos in its wake. Windows were broken, trash barrels were disturbed, the door to the church had a rather large sized bite taken from it...one thing can be sure..whatever saw these events transpired went utterly unnoticed by the populace~

Under the dark shroud of Old Night, close to the Witching Hour, a brilliant blaze, and a loud peal of thunder roared over the slums.  The column of smoke could be seen as far away as the other side of Lake Zarovich as the Gaping Wound was set ablaze.  Broken glass and splintered boards litter the streets where the derelict old tavern once stood.  The skeleton of the building still stands, the charred black remains of what was promised to be rebuilt and reopened again, and again.

Rumors speculate that a handful of lightcarriers as well as garda were present when the building was set fire.  Eye witnesses recall a strange smell, and the upper levels of the building exploding outwards, then collapsing upon the base as the embers raged.  No casualties have been reported from the fire itself. . . however, in the mid morning hours, a looter by the name of Herbrek Rustinov was found crushed to death beneath the weight of a support beam that had apparently fallen upon him as he tried to make his way through the rubble, looking for anything valuable that could've been salvaged from the wreckage.

A rotting stench in one of the empty homes in the slums has revealed quite a scene, including the leftovers of a corpse that can only be assumed to have been a smuggler or hired Borcan mercenary of sorts. The state of the body leaves much to the imagination, but the weaponry and torn armour hint towards it. The easels in the corner amidst the pools of blood and sea of scratchmarks on the walls and furniture indicate the smuggling of art or art forgeries. Judging from where the event took place and the brutal evidence, wererats would be the most likely or obvious culprits behind the savage deed. Besides one of the easels being empty, the only other thing that was missing was a coinpurse, although the man may not have been paid yet.

Onlookers and passers by in the streets of the slums might have noticed a scruffy looking Gundarakite man being hounded by a member of the local Garda. As it looked like things had begun to go south, a red haired Barovian woman stepped out of the shadows and interjected, insisting that the man cleans the floors of the Prancing Nymph gentleman's club. When asked what this Gundarakite's name is, she pauses and then snorts with laughter, remarking that she: "Has only ever called him dog." The two depart quickly in the direction of the club, the woman muttering at him beneath her breath..

Some may have noticed lieutenant Dumitrascu dragging his feet down the road with the bloody corpse of a boy cradled in his arms.    The destination of the grief stricken officer being the Morninglord temple in the slums.

The homes of several of Vallaki's poorest Gundarakite families woke up the morning with carepackages of food and warm clothing on their doorsteps.  The donations were anonymous, and no one has taken credit.

In the dead of the night a man's screaming could be heard, mixed in with hysterical sobbing. The anguished cries were coming from a particular home in the slums, one that had belonged to the one time dancer, Serafim Ianescu. If anyone was brave enough to look inside come morning, they would find the man, her father, dead. His throat ripped cleanly out and the house in shambles. The crib where her daughter, Felicity slept was over turned and written on the walls in her own fathers blood were the words "Where is my daughter?!"

As the night falls, a woman wearing a morninglordian robe and helmet is seen moving around looking for bodies of people murdered by the garda. When she finds one, she stops and prays next to it for some time before moving onward to another.

Word soon spreads that the Prancing Nymph is under new management, and new members of the staff have been hired already. Even with General Ionelus declaring martial law, new life is breathed into Vallaki's most curious of establishments.

Whispered words pass amongst some in the dark corners of the Slums and the back alleys of the Market district. Some say that the Red Vardo will smuggle Gundarakites, Outlanders, and Barovians wishing to escape martial law and the looming war out of the city, bringing them to safe location to wait out these troubled times. Being the Vardo, it's said that this will come at a price, but is it known that those that wear the Red and Black do not offer lackluster services....

A mere hour before the first rays of dawn settle over Vallaki's streets, a woman's scream I heard to break the dawn's silence. Any foolish enough to be out on the streets early might have seen a woman stumble from one of the run down houses, features hidden beneath the cowl of her trail cloak.
